INDIANAPOLIS – UIC’s Cory Moore led the Flames to a series sweep over Northern Kentucky with a .500 batting average, a .600 on base percentage, as well as a 1.667 slugging percentage and 13 RBIs to be named Nike #HLBASE Batter of the Week. Youngstown State’s Travis Perry earned a win for the Penguins on Sunday, allowing just one hit in six innings of work to earn Nike #HLBASE Pitcher of the Week honors, as the Horizon League announced its final baseball weekly honors of the season on Monday.

Cory Moore had a career weekend for the Flames, helping UIC to a series sweep over Northern Kentucky. The first baseman finished the weekend with a .500 batting average and a .600 on base percentage while slugging an impressive 1.667. The native of Huntington Beach, California had six hits, all extra base hits, over the course of the first three games of the series before appearing as a ninth-inning defensive replacement in the series finale. Moore had a pair of doubles and four home runs on the weekend, driving in a team-high 13 runs. The senior had a banner game in Game 2 of Saturday’s doubleheader, finishing 4-for-5 with three home runs and nine RBIs, helping the Flames scored the most runs (24) in a game since 2006.

Travis Perry | Youngstown State | Junior | RHP | Oil City, Pa.
Youngstown State junior right-hander Travis Perry allowed one unearned run on only one hit and struck out four batters over a season-high six innings to lead the Penguins to a 10-2 victory over Milwaukee in the regular season finale on Sunday. The only baserunners he allowed came in the second inning, and he retired the final 14 batters he faced. The Oil City, Pa., native retired the side in order in five of the six innings he was on the mound. After allowing an unearned run in the second inning, he retired the side in order in four consecutive innings. Perry had a strikeout in three different frames, and he had a pair of punch outs in the second.
