Nike #HLBASE Players of the Week (May 4)
INDIANAPOLIS – Wright State’s Alec Sayre won his second consecutive Nike #HLBASE Batter of the Week after hitting .500 with three home runs and collecting 11 RBIs, while Youngstown State’s Colin Clark tossed 8.0 innings without allowing a run and tallied eight punch outs to earn Nike #HLBASE Pitcher of the Week as the Horizon League announced its baseball weekly honors on Tuesday.

Alec Sayre | Wright State | Freshman | Infielder | Dover, Ohio
Sayre drove in double-digit runs for the second-straight weekend, tallying a team-high 11 RBIs as Wright State went on the road and recorded 88 runs in a four-game sweep at Purdue Fort Wayne. Sayre had a pair of two-hit games and a three-hit game as part of his 7-for-14 weekend that featured six of his hits go for extra bases to finish with a 1.429 slugging percentage. Sayre connected on three home runs, including two in Saturday’s second game, and also had two doubles and a triple. Over his last eight games, Sayre has now driven in 21 runs as the Raiders have gone 8-0 during that stretch.
#HLBASE Pitcher of the Week
Colin Clark | Youngstown State | Senior | Left-Handed Pitcher | Circleville, Ohio
Clark tossed 8.0 shutout innings to lead the Penguins to a 1-0 victory over UIC in the series opener on Friday. Clark scattered four hits and struck out eight batters over a season-high eight scoreless innings to earn his fourth victory of the season. The Circleville, Ohio, native recorded a strikeout in five different innings and had multiple punch outs in two different frames. Clark struck out the side in the third inning, and he did not allow a baserunner to reach second base until the sixth. The senior retired each of the final seven batters he faced.
