Nike #HLVB Players of the Week (Sept. 29)
INDIANAPOLIS – Milwaukee’s Ari Miller and Oakland’s Lindsay Wightman earned Nike® #HLVB Players of the Week honors after the opening week of League play. Miller led the Panthers to two road victories, leading the League with 4.57 kills per set while hitting .400 to collect her second consecutive and third Player of the Week award of the season. Wightman picked up her second Player of the Week award of the season as she led the Golden Grizzlies to a 3-0 record with a League-leading 6.91 digs per set.

It was yet another outstanding week for Ari Miller who totaled 32 kills and six blocks to help Milwaukee start 2-0 in Horizon League play. Miller averaged 4.57 kills per set and hit .400 in the two matches. In Friday’s win over Purdue Fort Wayne, Miller put away 18 kills with a .417 attack percentage. She followed on Sunday with a 14-3-29 (.379) line in Sunday’s sweep of IUPUI. The junior continues to lead the league in hitting percentage (.372) and ranks second in total kills (208) and points (237).

Fifth-year senior Lindsay Wightman totaled 76 digs, averaging 6.91 per set to help the Oakland volleyball program to a 3-0 start in Horizon League action. She also posted 15 assists and four aces in 11 sets of play. In OU’s home-opening sweep at Youngstown State, Wightman tallied 33 digs, which broke a school record for digs in a three-set match. Additionally, her 33 digs tied for the third-highest total in a three-set match by an NCAA Division I player this season. The Lake Orion, Mich., native followed the career performance with match-leading marks in digs (17) and aces (2) at Robert Morris. Wightman closed the week with a match-high 26 digs to go along with seven assists and one ace against Purdue Fort Wayne at home.
