Nike #HLMSOC Players of the Week (September 7)
INDIANAPOLIS – Logan Finnegan of IUPUI and Erik Josson of Purdue Fort Wayne earned this week’s #HLMSOC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week. On the offensive side, Finnegan scored the game-winner in IUPUI’s road victory over Western Illinois. Leading Purdue Fort Wayne to an undefeated week on the pitch, Erik Josson recorded back-to-back shutouts in goal.
Offensive Player of the Week
Logan Finnegan | IUPUI | Sophomore | Midfielder | Wheaton, Ill.
Logan Finnegan’s first career goal was a big one, as the midfielder netted the lone goal in IUPUI’s victory at Western Illinois. After drawing a foul in the 78
th minute, Finnegan netted a penalty kick to give the Jaguars a 1-0 lead. IUPUI held on to that one-goal lead to earn its first non-League road win since 2015.
Defensive Player of the Week
Erik Josson | Purdue Fort Wayne | Sophomore | Goalkeeper | Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
Erik Josson shut down the opposition this week recording two shutouts in as many matches. Josson recorded four saves in a 1-0 victory at Eastern Illinois and six saves in a 2-0 win at Western Illinois. The Purdue Fort Wayne sophomore is first in the League in goals against average and saves, and tied for first in shutouts per game and saves per game.
