INDIANAPOLIS – Milwaukee’s Madi Malone and Oakland’s Lindsay Wightman earned Nike® #HLVB Players of the Week honors in the second week of the season. Malone averaged 4.69 kills and 3.15 digs as the Panthers earned a pair of victories at the Shamrock Invitational, including a victory over host Notre Dame. Wightman totaled 6.38 digs per set and earned Tournament MVP honors as OAK finished 2-0 at the Golden Grizzlies Invitational.

Madi Malone had a terrific weekend at the Shamrock Invitational, leading the team with 61 kills in a .329 attack percentage. The freshman averaged 4.69 kills per set to help lead Milwaukee to wins over Cincinnati and (RV) Notre Dame. Malone also added 41 digs (3.15 per set) and a pair of blocks as she recorded three consecutive double-doubles. In Friday’s win over Cincinnati, Malone shouldered the load with a career-high 24 kills and .404 attack percentage. She recorded the first double-double of her collegiate career as she added 10 digs against the Bearcats. After posting 18 kills and a career-high 17 digs against Bowling Green, Malone capped the tournament with a 19-kill, 14-dig performance in a 3-1 win over the Irish. The Newark, Ill. native was named to the Shamrock Invitational All-Tournament Team for her performance.

Fifth-year senior libero Lindsay Wightman totaled 51 digs, averaging 6.38 per set en route to earning tournament MVP honors and helping the Oakland volleyball program to a 2-0 record at the Golden Grizzlies Invitational. She also posted a team-leading four service aces and nine assists in eight sets of play. The AVCA All-Region selection notched 31 digs, four assists, and one ace in OAK’s tournament-opening victory over Bradley. The dig total marked her ninth career match with 30-plus in the category. To add, it was the 25th time in program history that a player recorded 31 or more digs in a single match. In the Golden Grizzlies straight-set win against in-state foe Eastern Michigan, Wightman led the team in digs (20) and aces (3). Dating back to last season, Wightman has finished with 20-plus digs in eight consecutive matches.
