INDIANAPOLIS – Week 5 of the #HLMBB season started on Thursday with Milwaukee handing Oakland its first loss of the League season, while Wright State and Northern Kentucky each picked up a win on the road and Green Bay collected its second win in its last three games.

Wright State 73, IUPUI 45

  • The Raiders improved to 7-2 in Horizon League play with its third League road win of the season.
  • Grant Basile finished with a game-high 20 points, his third-straight 20-point performance, with three triples, while C.J. Wilbourn added 11 off the bench.
  • IUPUI’s Bakari LaStrap scored a team-high 10 points and Jonah Carrasco recorded eight.
  • In the first half, the game was tied 17-17 before Wright State ended the period on a 22-3 run. WSU ended the game shooting 50.9 percent from the floor.
Milwaukee 88, Oakland 78
  • In the upset of the night, Milwaukee pins the first Horizon League loss of the season on Oakland and pulls back to .500 in HL play at 5-5.
  • Five Panthers ended the game with double-digit points led by Josh Thomas with 22 on 10-of-13 shooting, while Jordan Lathon scored 16 points and Vin Baker Jr. recorded a new career high with 16.
  • Oakland’s Jamal Cain registered 17 points and Trey Townsend finished with 16. Jalen Moore fell just shy of a triple-double with 14 points, nine assists and eight rebounds.
  • Milwaukee held the Golden Grizzlies to just 31.3 percent shooting, including 25.0 percent from long range, while the Panthers finished the game shooting 54.0 percent including 58.6 percent in the second half.
Northern Kentucky 74, UIC 70 (OT)
  • The Norse claim its third Horizon League win in their last five games to jump up to 3-5 in HL play.
  • Sam Vinson scored a game-high 24 points for Northern Kentucky, while Marques Warrick added 19 points and Adrian Nelson chipped in 11.
  • UIC’s Damaria Franklin led four Flames in double figures with 17. Filip Skobalj registered a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds and Kevin Johnson added 13.
  • NKU won its first overtime game of the season thanks to a 9-0 run over the final three minutes of the extra period as Vinson and Warrick combined for all nine points in OT.
Green Bay 70, Detroit Mercy 63
  • Green Bay has now won two out of its last three games to move up to 3-5 in League play.
  • Three Phoenix players finished in double figures with Cade Meyer scoring a team-high 16 points. Donovan Ivory recorded 13 points on 8-for-8 shooting from the free throw line and Japannah Kellogg III went 6-for-9 from the floor for 12 points.
  • Antoine Davis registered a game-high 25 points for Detroit Mercy on 11-made field goals, while Madut Akec tallied 16 and Noah Waterman added 10 points and seven boards.
  • The Phoenix shot 52.0 percent from the field as GB totaled 19 assists on its 26-made baskets.
