INDIANAPOLIS – Saturday’s #HLMBB action was highlighted by all four road teams earning wins with Oakland and Wright State each picking up their eighth League win, while Northern Kentucky earned a weekend sweep and Detroit Mercy pulled back to above .500 in HL play.

Northern Kentucky 60, IUPUI 41
  • Northern Kentucky claimed a weekend road sweep to pull back to .500 in Horizon League play at 4-4.
  • Trevon Faulkner led all scorers with 18 points for the Norse on 5-of-9 shooting from distance, while Sam Vinson posted 15 points and five assists.
  • Bakari LaStrap led a short-handed IUPUI squad with 11 points and Mike DePersia finished with 10 points, six boards and five assists.
  • NKU forced 20 IUPUI turnovers and held a 25-11 advantage in points off turnovers.
Oakland 68, Green Bay 61
  • Oakland rebounded off its first Horizon League loss of the season on Thursday with a seven-point victory to improve to 8-1 in League play.
  • Jamal Cain posted his League-leading eighth double-double of the season with 26 points and 21 rebounds for Oakland. The 21 boards and 14 made free throws are the most by a Horizon League player this season and his 14 free throw attempts are tied for the most this season.
  • Oakland’s Trey Townsend finished with 23 points on 9-of-12 shooting for his fifth 20-point performance this season.
  • Donovan Ivory score a team-high 18 points off the bench for the Phoenix, while Cade Meyer shot 8-for-12 from the floor for 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
  • The Golden Grizzlies grabbed 13 offensive rebounds for 16 second-chance points and they also shot 27-for-30 from the free throw line.
Detroit Mercy 71, Milwaukee 58
  • The Titans snapped a three-game losing slide on Saturday and pulled back to above .500 in HL play at 4-3.
  • Detroit Mercy’s Antoine Davis recorded 30 points on 12-made field goals, including four triples, for his fourth 30-point performance of the season. Madut Akec added 11 points and six boards.
  • DeAndre Gholston paced the Panthers with 12 points, while Devon Hancock and Tafari Simms each added nine points.
  • Detroit Mercy trailed 54-52 with 4:35 left in the game before going on a 17-0 run over the next 3:20 with Davis scoring 12 points on two 3-pointers and two lay ups.
Wright State 97, UIC 81
  • Wright State completed the weekend sweep on the road with a 16-point win to move up to 8-2 in Horizon League play.
  • Tanner Holden posted a career-high 38 points for the Raiders, the second-most points by a HL player this season, on 14-of-24 shooting and 10-of-11 shooting from the free throw line. Trey Calvin registered his third 20-point game this season with 23 points.
  • Five UIC players finished in double figures with Damaria Franklin leading the way with 25 points and Zion Griffin shot 5-of-7 from the floor to finish with 13 points.
  • The 97 points are the most in a Horizon League game this season as Wright State shot 56.5 percent from the floor and 14-for-17 from the free throw line.
