INDIANAPOLIS – This week’s #HLMBB action tipped off on Thursday with all three home teams being victorious as Detroit Mercy, RMU and Youngstown State each defended their home courts to open up Week 6 of Horizon League play.

Youngstown State 63, Green Bay 50
  • The Penguins won its second home game in a row to improve to 5-6 during Horizon League play.
  • Dwayne Cohill scored a game-high 18 points as four Youngstown State players finished in double figures with Michael Akuchie recording 13 points, Will Dunn adding 11 and Shemar Rathan-Mayes chipping in 10.
  • Kamari McGee and Japannah Kellogg III paced the Phoenix with 10 points each, while Cade Meyer fell just short of a double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds.
  • YSU led by as many as 13 in the second half, but Green Bay went on an 18-8 run late in the period to cut the lead to just five. After a timeout, the Penguins responded and closed the game on an 11-3 capped off by a Cohill 3-pointer with under a minute to play.
RMU 77, Milwaukee 53
  • RMU picked up its second-straight home victory on Thursday with a 24-point victory at the UPMC Events Center.
  • Kahliel Spear set a new career-high with 25 points for the Colonials on 11-of-14 shooting from the floor and fell one rebound shy of a double-double. Michael Green III added 13 points on three triples.
  • Milwaukee’s Joey St. Pierre scored a game-high nine points and DeAndre Gholston added eight.
  • The Colonials led by as many as 30 points in the second half thanks to an impressive performance on the glass with 52 rebounds, the most in a Horizon League game this season.  
Detroit Mercy 80, UIC 67
  • The Titans remain undefeated inside Calihan Hall this season at 4-0 and jump to 5-3 during HL play.
  • Five Detroit Mercy players ended the game with double-digit points led by Antoine Davis with 18 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the free throw line and added nine assists. Matt Johnson scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds and Willy Isiani hit four 3-pointers to finish with 15.
  • UIC’s Damaria Franklin register a team-best 17 points, while Zion Griffin added 14 and Jamie Ahale went 4-for-6 from distance for 12.
  • Detroit Mercy trailed by two at halftime but came alive in the second half outscoring UIC 47-32. The Titans shot 53.6 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes including 7-for-13 from behind the arc and they also made 10-of-12 free throw attempts.
