INDIANAPOLIS – Horizon League play continued on Friday highlighted by Antoine Davis setting Detroit Mercy’s all-time scoring record with 39 points on ESPN2. In addition, Cleveland State and Purdue Fort Wayne each went on the road to pick up their first HL road wins of the season.

Detroit Mercy 85, Cleveland State 60

  • In front of a national television audience on ESPN2, Detroit Mercy remained unbeaten in Horizon League play and has now won five out of its last six games.
  • Antoine Davis put on a show for the Titans as he finished with 39 points on 8-of-13 shooting from 3-point range to set Detroit Mercy’s all-time scoring record, passing two-time Horizon League Player of the Year Rashad Phillips, and moved into sole possession of fifth place on the HL’s all-time scoring list with 2,323. He also added seven rebounds and six assists.
  • Noah Waterman added 12 points on four triples for Detroit Mercy and Madut Akec fell one point shy of a double-double with nine points and 10 boards.
  • Milwaukee was led by Josh Thomas with 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting and Donovan Newby added 12. The Panthers were without Patrick Baldwin Jr., who suffered an injury in his previous game.
  • Detroit Mercy tied a school record with 18 3-pointers as it shot 51.4 percent from distance as a team.
Cleveland State 78, RMU 77
  • Cleveland State became the first team to reach five League wins this season as it won a hard fought battle against RMU for its first road win of the season.  
  • Eight CSU players scored in the game led by Torrey Patton with 18, while Tre Gomillion registered 14 and Yahel Hill added 12 off the bench.
  • RMU’s Kahliel Spear finished with a game-high 24 points on 10 field goals and Enoch Cheeks chipped in 12.
  • The game came right down to the wire as neither team led by more than seven points the entire game. The Vikings pulled away thanks to their free-throw shooting as they combined to be a perfect 8-for-8 from the line in the final two minutes when the score was tied 70-70.
Purdue Fort Wayne 71, Youngstown State 61
  • The Mastodons snapped a two-game losing skid and picked up its first true road win of the season with a 10-point victory to improve to 2-3 in HL play.
  • Jarred Godfrey paced Purdue Fort Wayne with 18 points and six rebounds. Jalon Pipkins tallied 15 points on 3-of-4 shooting from distance and Ra Kpedi added 11.
  • Four YSU players finished in double figures with Luke Chicone leading the way with a career-best 13 points followed by Tevin Olison with 11, while Dwayne Cohill and Michael Akuchie each recorded 10.
  • The ‘Dons held a 21-10 advantage in points off turnovers and also an 11-2 lead in fast break points.    
Oakland 108, Ohio Christian 40
  • Oakland competed in non-League action on Thursday with Trey Townsend setting a career-high with 26 points to go along with 10 rebounds and Chris Conway also posted a double-double with 22 points and 10 boards.
