INDIANAPOLIS (October 12, 2022) – Northern Kentucky’s Reilly Briggs and Youngstown State’s Paula Gursching earned this week’s Nike® #HLVB awards. Briggs led the Norse to a 2-0 record on the road as she posted 5.14 kills and 1.0 blocks per set while hitting .403. Gursching posted 33 kills and 20 digs in the Penguins’ five-set victory on Friday while hitting .422.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK | REILLY BRIGGS | NORTHERN KENTUCKY | SENIOR | OH/RS | LA PORTE, IND.
Briggs helped the Norse get back on track this past week, leading NKU to a 2-0 record, which included road victories against Horizon League foes IUPUI and Purdue Fort Wayne. Briggs finished her week leading NKU with 36 kills, 5.14 kills per set, an overall hitting percentage of .403 and added seven total blocks.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK | PAULA GURSCHING | YOUNGSTOWN STATE | SOPHOMORE | OH | Schwalbach am Taunus, Germany
Gursching delivered the most impressive performance of her career on Friday as the Penguins outlasted Robert Morris for a five-set win. Gursching broke a pair of single-match school records with 33 kills and 36.5 points against the Colonials. She had already tied the previous kills record of 31 on Sept. 30, and the points record had stood since 2005. The 33 kills were the highest single-match total in the country last week, and only two Division I players have had more kills in a match this season. Gursching added 20 digs to post just the second 30-kill, 20-dig effort by a Division I player in 2022 and the only one in YSU program history.
