Milwaukee Earns No. 1 Seed as #HLWSOC Championship Bracket Set

INDIANAPOLIS (October 26, 2022) – Milwaukee earned the #HLWSOC regular season title and the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Horizon League championship as the regular season came to a close on Wednesday. The Panthers will host the semifinals and championship on Nov. 3 and 5 at Engelmann Stadium.
For the seventh time in the last eight seasons, Milwaukee has clinched the No. 1 seed in the Horizon League Women’s Soccer Championship. The Panthers concluded the 2022 regular season with a 7-1-2 League record and a 10-3-3 overall record. MKE will play its semifinal match against the lowest-remaining seed after the quarterfinal matches on Thursday, Nov. 3.
Purdue Fort Wayne enters postseason play as the No. 2 seed and will also receive a bye into the semifinal round. The Mastodons finished the regular season with a League record of 5-1-4 and a 9-3-6 overall record. Purdue Fort Wayne will face the highest-remaining seed after the quarterfinal matches on Nov. 3 at Engelmann Stadium.
The 2022 #HLWSOC Championship begins Sunday, October 30 with quarterfinals hosted by No. 3 seed Oakland and No. 4 seed Wright State. Both matches are set to begin at 1 p.m. ET. The Golden Grizzlies and the Raiders both finished the regular season with 5-2-3 records in League play. Oakland received the No. 3 seed after defeating WSU, 3-1, in League play.
Oakland will host No. 6 seed IUPUI, who wrapped up the regular season with a 4-3-3 HL record. The Golden Grizzlies and Jags played to a scoreless draw earlier this season. Wright State will host No. 5 seed Youngstown State who closed out League play with a 5-3-2 record. The Raiders defeated the Penguins 2-0 in the regular season.
