INDIANAPOLIS (October 31, 2022) – This week’s Nike® #HLMSOC awards go to IUPUI’s Josemir Gomez and Oakland’s Michael Sly Jr. who each lead the League in a respective category. Gomez collected his first Offensive Player of the Week honors of the season as he continues to lead the Jaguars through a five game undefeated streak. His ninth goal of the year puts him atop the League. Sly Jr. collected his second Defensive Player of the Week honors as he recorded his fifth shutout of the year, putting him atop the League as well with seven saves in one match.

Gomez tallied a late goal in IUPUI’s 3-1 win over Purdue Fort Wayne on Oct. 29, helping the Jaguars secure a spot in the upcoming HL Tournament and extending the current unbeaten streak to five games. In addition, it marked a fourth straight win in HL play, and the goal was his league-high ninth of the year. He also leads the league in points (21) and goals per game (0.60).

Helping the Golden Grizzlies pick up a critical point in the league standings, redshirt freshman Michael Sly, Jr. tallied seven saves in Oakland's scoreless draw with host Milwaukee on October 29. The shutout was Sly's fifth of the season and fourth in league play, both of which are best in the conference.
