INDIANAPOLIS (November 15, 2022) – Recognizing student-athletes for their success both in competition and in the classroom, the Horizon League released its 2022 Volleyball All-Academic Team on Tuesday. A total of 13 student-athletes were named to the All-Academic Team while five more were tabbed as honorable mentions in balloting by the League’s faculty athletics representatives.

The All-Academic Team and Honorable Mention Team are comprised of student-athletes from nine League institutions. Green Bay led the League with four student-athletes recognized while Cleveland State posted three student-athletes on the All-Academic Team. Purdue Fort Wayne, RMU, Wright State and Youngstown State all placed two total student-athletes on the teams while IUPUI, Milwaukee and Oakland all had one student-athlete earn recognition.

The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team’s overall contests or 20 percent of overall contests for pitchers. An Honorable Mention is awarded to student-athletes who received at least 25 percent of votes, but did not make the All-Academic team.
