Wright State Earns No. 1 Seed, 2022 #HLVB Championship Bracket Revealed

INDIANAPOLIS (November 12, 2022) – Wright State earned the #HLVB regular season title and the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Horizon League championship. The Raiders will host the championship Nov. 18-20 at C.J. McLin Gymnasium.

Wright State posted a perfect 18-0 record in League play to capture its third regular season title in the last four seasons. The Raiders have won 21 straight matches, including a three-set victory at Youngstown State on Saturday to wrap up the regular season. WSU will face the lowest-remaining seed from the quarterfinals on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 3 p.m. ET. The Raiders are looking to secure their second League title and third trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Northern Kentucky (15-3) secured the No. 2 seed and will also receive a bye into the semifinals after completing regular season sweeps of YSU and RMU this week. The Norse will open their quest for an NCAA Tournament berth on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. ET against the highest-remaining seed from the quarterfinals. NKU advanced to the championship match last season and earned the title in 2019.

Green Bay (13-5) earned the No. 3 seed in the championship, finishing the regular season at 22-10 overall after a 3-0 sweep at Milwaukee on Friday. The Phoenix will face No. 6 seed Youngstown State (8-10) in the quarterfinals on Friday, Nov. 18 at 3 p.m. ET. Green Bay won both regular season meetings with the Penguins. The Phoenix are seeking a third overall League title with their most recent championship coming in 2018 while the Penguins are competing for their first #HLVB crown.

Cleveland State (10-8) earned the No. 4 seed in the tournament. The Vikings will battle No. 5 seed Milwaukee (9-9) in the second quarterfinal on Friday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m. ET. The two teams split their regular season matchups with the Panthers winning 3-0 in Milwaukee and the Vikings picking up a 3-1 victory in Cleveland. Milwaukee has won eight #HLVB titles while Cleveland State has collected five League championships.

The two semifinal winners will battle for an NCAA Tournament bid in the championship match on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 2 p.m. ET.
