INDIANAPOLIS (November 4, 2022) – Cleveland State junior forward Bojan Kolevski was named the Horizon League Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year while Vikings head coach Sinisa Ubiparipovic collected Coach of the Year honors. Green Bay’s Tobias Jahn and Hesron Barry earned Goalkeeper of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year recognition respectively. IUPUI’s Josemir Gomez was rewarded Freshman of the Year. All-League awards were voted on by the League’s head coaches.
Kolevski earned back-to back Offensive Player of the Year and his first Player of the Year honors as he led the No. 1 seed, Cleveland State Viking attack that scored 28 goals this year. He was responsible for eight of those, with five coming in #HLMSOC contests. He led the League during HL contests in points with 12, totaling 19 this season. Kolevski and the Vikings look to defend home field as they look ahead to next week’s championship.
Jahn is the first member of the Green Bay program to earn Goalkeeper of the Year honors as the sophomore goalkeeper led the League in saves with 57 and posted five shutouts on the year which is tied for League best. His goals against average of .813 was also a League best. Jahn averaged 3.89 saves per #HLMSOC match with a .814 save percentage. Jahn looks to carry this impressive season performance over into 2023.
Barry started all 15 games for the Phoenix this season as he anchored a Green Bay back line that only allowed eight goals on the year in #HLMSOC play. The Phoenix led the League with fewest goals allowed with only 13, averaging less than one goal surrendered per contest. He is the first member of the Phoenix to earn the Defensive Player of the Year award as he adds a well-deserved accolade to his junior campaign.
Josemir Gomez is the first Jaguar to receive the Freshman of the Year award. Gomez started in 14 of IUPUI’s 16 total games this year in his official freshman campaign, as he missed the entire 2021 season due to injury. He led the League in goals and points this season with nine and 21 respectively.
Sinisa Ubiparipovic earned his first Coach of the Year honor in the Horizon League as the Vikings earned the No. 1 seed in the championship with a 5-1-3 League record.
