INDIANAPOLIS – Northern Kentucky and IUPUI earned key wins to close out non-League play last week before #HLWBB play resumes on Wednesday.

#HLWBB NEWS & NOTES

  • In this week’s College Insider Women’s Mid-Major Top 25 poll, Cleveland State remained at No. 9 while Green Bay moved up to No. 14, Youngstown State moved up four spots to No. 18 and Northern Kentucky and IUPUI received votes.
  • Northern Kentucky extended its winning streak to four games with a 72-52 home victory over Cincinnati on Wednesday. Both Lindsey Duvall and Ivy Turner surpassed 1,000 points in their Norse careers in the win as Duvall scored 11 points with 12 rebounds and Turner scored 15 points with five assists and five rebounds.
  • IUPUI set a Horizon League record with 17 three-point field goals in its 85-72 win over Northern Illinois on Wednesday. Rachel Kent led the Jags with 24 points, shooting 7-10 from beyond the arc while Destiny Perkins made six three-point field goals and totaled 20 points and Jazmyn Turner scored 22.
  • Cleveland State enters its matchup with Youngstown State on an 11-game winning streak. The Vikings lead the League in scoring offense (73.3 points per game), opponent field-goal percentage (34.2 percent), team rebounds (42.1), steals (10.5) and blocked shots (5.08).
  • Green Bay extended its winning streak to five games with a win over Chicago State to end non-League play. Maddy Schreiber and Natalie McNeal scored 16 points each to lead the Phoenix with three others scoring in double figures.
  • Youngstown State picked up a win over Mount Vernon Nazarene on Wednesday, making it seven victories in a row. The Penguins pace the League in scoring defense (54.7 points per game), team field goal percentage (44.2 percent) and assists (16.64).
  • RMU leads the League and ranks sixth nationally in opponent three-point field goal percentage (23.4 percent).
  • Amellia Bromenschenkel scored a game-high 25 points for Purdue Fort Wayne in a loss to #15 Maryland on Wednesday and added 10 rebounds for a double-double.
  • Alexis Johnson paces Oakland in scoring (11.0 points per game) and rebounding (5.2 per game).
  • Megan Walstad is averaging 5.9 rebounds and 1.4 blocked shots per game while Emma Wittmershaus has posted 5.3 rebounds per game and leads the Panthers with 9.7 points per game.
  • Irene Murua leads Detroit Mercy with 11.5 points per game and 9.7 rebounds per game this season.
  • Bryce Nixon scored 15 points for the Raiders against Eastern Michigan on Wednesday and leads Wright State with 11.9 points per game this season.
