INDIANAPOLIS – Thursday marked the return of Horizon League play highlighted by all five home teams defending their home courts and picking up the victories. Northern Kentucky moved to 3-0 during HL play, while Detroit Mercy, RMU and Youngstown State all moved above .500 in Horizon League play and Oakland earned its first #HLMBB win of the season.

GAME RECAPS
Oakland 83, Milwaukee 61
- Oakland picked up its first Horizon League win of the season on Thursday and its second win in a row on the Blacktop, while Milwaukee dropped its first HL contest of the season.
- Blake Lampman led five Golden Grizzlies in double figures with a career-high 20 points on five 3-pointers. Jalen Moore poured in 17 points with eight assists, while both Trey Townsend and Keaton Hervey nearly had double-doubles as both grabbed nine rebounds and score 10 and 16, respectively. Rocket Watts added 14.
- The Panthers were led by Ahmad Rand with 12 points and three blocks along with Jalen Johnson with 10 points and six boards.
- The Golden Grizzlies shot 50.9 percent from the floor, its best percentage against a Division I opponent this season, and outscored MKE 40-26 in the paint.
RMU 75, Purdue Fort Wayne 70
- The Colonials improve to 2-1 in Horizon League play as they won their League home opener for the second time in three seasons.
- Enoch Cheeks led all scorers with 24 points for RMU on 9-of-16 shooting and four triples. Kahliel Spear was the only other double-digit scorer with 10 points to go with six boards and three blocks.
- Jarred Godfrey posted his fourth 20-point game of the season as four Mastodons finished in double figures. Ra Kpedi grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds.
- RMU turned the ball over only nine times in the game, including just two in the second half, while forcing 16 takeaways and outscoring Purdue Fort Wayne 20-9 in points off turnovers.
Detroit Mercy 76, Green Bay 59
- Detroit Mercy remains perfect at home at 4-0 to snap a three-game losing skid and push its HL record to 2-1.
- Antoine Davis totaled a game-high 24 points for the Titans and Gerald Liddell continued his streak of double-double performances as he tallied 19 points and 11 boards for his seventh in a row.
- Green Bay had a pair of double-digit scorers led by Zae Blake with 14 and Clarence Cummings III with 13.
- The 59 points were the second-fewest allowed by the Titans this season and they also held the Phoenix to just 3-of-19 shooting from 3-point range.
Northern Kentucky 78, Wright State 64
- Northern Kentucky is the only undefeated team remaining in Horizon League play after defeating its rival at home to improve to 3-0.
- Four NKU players finished in double figures led by Marques Warrick with 19 points on 3-of-5 shooting from distance. Chris Brandon recorded his third double-double of the season and first in HL play with 12 points and 14 rebounds.
- Trey Calvin tallied his second 30-point game of the season with 31 points on 10-made field goals, while Amari Davis added 10.
- The Norse led by just four at the half, but came out shooting in the second period as they shot 59.3 percent from the floor including 6-of-9 from 3-point range over the final 20 minutes.
Youngstown State 85, Cleveland State 71
- The Penguins won its League-leading 10th game of the season to improve to 2-1 in #HLMBB play and 5-1 at home. On the other side, the Vikings suffered their first HL loss of the season.
- YSU’s Brandon Rush had 21 points and scored the 1,000th point of his career to lead all scorers. Adrian Nelson totaled 16 points and eight rebounds, while Dwayne Cohill also scored 16 points to go with six assists.
- Cleveland State was led by Tristan Enaruna and Deshon Parker with 18 points apiece followed by Tae Williams with 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting.
- Youngstown State held a 15-point lead midway through the second half before CSU cut it to just five with five minutes to play. The ‘Guins then closed the game on a 15-6 run thanks to 4-of-6 shooting from the floor and 7-of-9 shooting from the free throw line to secure the victory.
