INDIANAPOLIS – Cleveland State and Youngstown State moved to 2-0 in #HLWBB play on Sunday afternoon while Northern Kentucky and Oakland picked up their first League wins.

Northern Kentucky 69, RMU 54
  • Northern Kentucky defeated RMU, 69-54, on Sunday to pick up its first League win.
  • The Norse defense held the Colonials to 26.8 percent shooting in the contest with RMU scoring just 15 points in the first half.
  • Lindsey Duvall posted a double-double for NKU with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Ivy Turner added 13 points for the Norse and Kailee Davis and Trinity Thompson also scored in double figures.
  • Simone Morris led RMU with 14 points and Phoenix Gedeon chipped in 12 points for the Colonials.
Oakland 66, Purdue Fort Wayne 64
  • Oakland collected its first #HLWBB victory on Sunday, defeating Purdue Fort Wayne, 66-64, on the road.
  • Brooke Daniels hit a jumper for the Golden Grizzlies with 1:04 left to tie the game at 61-61. Linda van Schaik then gave Oakland the lead with 42 seconds remaining and Breanne Beatty helped secure the win with three made free throws in the final 20 seconds.
  • Van Schaik led Oakland with 21 points while Beatty added 12 points and Daniels scored 10 points.
  • Four Mastodons scored in double figures, led by Shayla Sellers and Amellia Bromenschenkel with 15 points each.
Cleveland State 86, Detroit Mercy 30
  • Cleveland State extended its winning streak to seven games and moved to 2-0 in #HLWBB contests with an 86-30 home victory over Detroit Mercy.
  • The Vikings forced 28 Titan turnovers and converted them into 35 points. CSU totaled 54 points in the paint.
  • Destiny Leo led the Vikings with 24 points.
  • Irene Murua paced Detroit Mercy with ten points.
Youngstown State 76, Wright State 62
  • Youngstown State completed a 2-0 #HLWBB opening weekend with a 76-62 win at Wright State on Sunday.
  • The Penguins jumped out to a 27-4 advantage after the first quarter, shooting 58.8 percent overall and 4-6 from three-point range in the opening frame.
  • Lilly Ritz and Malia Magestro led YSU with 20 points each with Ritz adding 15 rebounds for a double-double.
  • Makiya Miller scored 14 points to lead the Raiders with Bryce Nixon and Kacee Baumhower adding 13 points each.
