INDIANAPOLIS – Youngstown State’s Dwayne Cohill led the Horizon League in scoring with 32.0 points per game, including a 43-point performance on the road to earn Nike® #HLMBB Player of the Week, while Detroit Mercy’s Isaiah Jones was named the Nike® #HLMBB Freshman of the Week after averaging 14.0 points and 5.5 rebounds off the bench for the Titans as the Horizon League announced its men’s basketball weekly honors on Monday.

Cohill led the Penguins to a 1-1 road record last week after averaging 32.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. He scored a career-high 43 points on 16-of-19 shooting from the floor with four rebounds, two assist and two steals. He also went 6-for-6 from 3-point range and 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. In the second half alone, Cohill scored 30 points and went 11-for-11 from the field against the Raiders. His 43 points are the most by a YSU player since Cameron Morse’s 44 points in 2017 and it ranks fifth on the YSU Division I single-game scoring list. The Cleveland native began the week scoring 21 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor with two 3-pointers and making 7-of-8 from the free-throw line against Northern Kentucky. He also had three rebounds, three assists and two steals against the Norse in the double overtime contest. For the week he shot 71.0 percent (23-for-31) from the field, 72.7 percent (8-for-11) from 3-point range and 92.3 percent (12-for-13) from the free-throw line.

#HLMBB Freshman of the Week
Isaiah Jones | Detroit Mercy | Freshman | Guard | Nashville, Tenn.

Jones had played in just one game, three minutes in the season opener against Rochester, but he came off the bench in a big way for the Titans in the League-opening weekend, tallying 14.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. He started the week scoring 11 points with four rebounds in the win at Purdue Fort Wayne. He ended the weekend with 17 points, seven rebounds and two assists at Cleveland State. The freshman shot 58.8 percent from the field (10-of-17) and 53.3 percent (8-of-15) from distance for the week.
