INDIANAPOLIS – #HLWBB play began this week with Cleveland State and Youngstown State posting 2-0 records while seven teams picked up one League win.
#HLWBB NEWS & NOTES
- In this week’s College Insider Women’s Mid-Major Top 25 poll, Cleveland State moved up to No. 10 while Youngstown State, Green Bay and Northern Kentucky received votes.
- Amele Ngwafang posted 12.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game to help the Vikings to a 2-0 start to #HLWBB play.
- Malia Magestro led the Penguins in scoring in the first weekend of League play, averaging 20.5 points per game in a pair of road victories for Youngstown State.
- Sydney Levy and Maddy Schreiber paced Green Bay with 11.5 points per game this week while Levy shot 55.6 percent from beyond the arc for the Phoenix.
- Lindsey Duvall posted a double-double in the NKU win over RMU on Sunday, totaling 18 points and 13 rebounds for the Norse.
- RMU’s Phoenix Gedeon paced the League with 12.5 rebounds per game in the first week of League play.
- IUPUI’s Destiny Perkins posted 28 points against Green Bay on Saturday, averaging 21.5 points across the first two League contests for the Jags.
- Emma Wittmershaus helped lead Milwaukee to a Horizon League-opening win over in-state rival Green Bay with her second career double-double. The redshirt senior finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds in the win.
- Knocking down five of her nine 3-point attempts, including consecutive triples in a 35-second span in the fourth quarter to give Oakland a five-point lead, junior Linda van Schaik led the Golden Grizzlies with 21 points in their road victory at Purdue Fort Wayne.
- Destinee Marshall led the Mastodons with 14.5 points per game this week.
- Freshman guard Makiya Miller averaged 10.5 points to lead Wright State this weekend.
- Irene Murua paces the Titans with 10.4 points and 10.0 rebounds this season.
