INDIANAPOLIS – Friday’s #HLMBB action was highlighted by Milwaukee earning a big win over Wright State at home on ESPNU thanks to a strong defensive effort. Elsewhere around the HL, Youngstown State won its sixth-straight game, Oakland snapped a three-game losing skid and Northern Kentucky won its fourth road game in a row.

Milwaukee 60, Wright State 57
- In front of a national television audience, Milwaukee snapped its six-game losing streak over a hot Wright State team to improve to 6-11 in Horizon League play.
- Donovan Newby scored a team-high 15 points for the Panthers, while Tafari Simms recorded his first double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds and DeAndre Gholston totaled 11 points.
- WSU’s Trey Calvin led all scorers with 18 points and Grant Basile posted his eighth double-double this year with 16 points and 11 boards.
- The Panthers defense shined on ESPNU as they held the Raiders to 29.0 percent shooting from the floor and just 26.9 percent from long range. MKE also grabbed 50 rebounds, the second-most in a HL game this season.
Youngstown State 82, Detroit Mercy 69
- The Penguins continued their winning ways on Friday as they picked up its sixth win in a row to improve to 10-6 in HL play.
- YSU’s Michael Akuchie registered his second 30-point performance of the season with 34 points, the fourth-most points in a HL game this season, on 13-of-17 shooting and also grabbed nine rebounds. Dwayne Cohill scored 16 points and Tevin Olison added 15.
- Antoine Davis finished with 28 points for Detroit Mercy, his sixth 20-point performance during HL play, and D.J. Harvey ended the game with 16.
- Youngstown State shot 58.0 percent from the floor, its highest shooting percentage against an Horizon League opponent this season, and hit 7-of-13 attempts from 3-point range.
Oakland 71, RMU 68
- Oakland snapped a three-game losing streak on Friday with a hard fought win over RMU and gets to double-digit wins in Horizon League play for the seventh time in the last eight seasons.
- Jamal Cain scored 29 points for the Golden Grizzlies, his most points during HL play this season, with three triples. Trey Townsend added 18 points and Jalen Moore posted 10 assists for his ninth double-digit assist game of the season.
- Three RMU players finished in double figures as Brandon Stone shot 7-of-8 from the floor for a team-high 17 points, while Kahliel Spear recorded 14 and Matt Mayers tallied 11.
- The Golden Grizzlies turned the ball over only five times and forced 16 turnovers to hold a 22-4 advantage in points off turnovers.
Northern Kentucky 71, Green Bay 62
- Northern Kentucky earned its second win in a row and its eighth win over its last nine games to move up to 10-5 in HL play.
- Marques Warrick hit six 3-pointers to finish with 24 points for the Norse, his eighth 20-point performance this season, and Sam Vinson tallied 14 points.
- Cade Meyer paced the Phoenix with 14 points, while Emmanuel Ansong totaled 12 points and Nate Jenkins added 11.
- NKU shot over 50 percent from the floor for the fourth time this season and second during HL play at 53.3 percent, including going 7-for-15 from distance.
