Nike #HLTennis Players of the Week (February 16)
INDIANAPOLIS – UIC’s Agnes Gustafsson won two matches at the top of the lineup to help the Flames to a 2-0 week to earn Nike #HLTennis Women’s Singles Player of the Week, while the duo of Greta Carbone and Iva Stejskalova of Milwaukee won twice at the No. 1 doubles position to be named Nike #HLTennis Women’s Doubles Team of the Week. Youngstown State’s Nathan Favier won a pair of matches at No. 2 for the Penguins to claim the Nike #HLTennis Men’s Singles Player of the Week honor as the Horizon League announced its weekly tennis awards on Wednesday.
#HLTennis Men’s Singles Player of the Week
Nathan Favier | Youngstown State | Freshman | La Rochelle, France
Favier earned a pair of victories against Marquette and Omaha to help the ‘Guins to a 1-1 week. Against Omaha he picked up a hard-fought 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 win over David Lawley at No. 2. Against Marquette, he defeated Tim Krstulovic by a score of 6-3, 7-6 at No. 2 singles. It was his first two wins of the spring season.
#HLTennis Women’s Singles Player of the Week
Agnes Gustafsson | UIC | Sophomore | Paris, France
Gustafsson led the Flames from the No. 1 singles position in two matches last weekend. She turned in a 6-4, 6-2 win over Eastern Michigan on Friday, and defeated Illinois State 6-3, 6-1 on Sunday. She was the first singles player off the courts in both matches, and with UIC having lost the doubles point each time, she got the team right back into the match. The Flames went on to win both matches by identical 4-3 scores. Gustafsson has won three straight matches and six overall.

Greta Carbone | Milwaukee | Sophomore | Milan, Italy
Iva Stejskalova | Milwaukee | Sophomore | Vsetín, Czech Republic
Milwaukee’s No. 1 doubles team of Carbone and Stejskalova remained undefeated this season at 6-0 after defeating Eastern Michigan 6-3 and Marquette 6-4 last weekend.
