INDIANAPOLIS – Youngstown State and IUPUI clinched first-round byes in the upcoming #HLWBB championship during this week’s action while Cleveland State posted a 3-0 record.
#HLWBB NEWS & NOTES
• Thursday’s Youngstown State at IUPUI matchup will feature two top-15 teams in this week’s College Insider Women’s Mid-Major Top 25 poll as IUPUI ranked No. 13 and Youngstown State ranked No. 15. Cleveland State and Green Bay continued to receive votes in the poll.
• Youngstown State (17-3) posted a 2-0 record this week and leads the League standings with two regular season contests remaining for each team. In Friday’s YSU win over Northern Kentucky, Chelsea Olson had her highest-scoring game ever at Beeghly Center when she scored 27 points. She was 8-for-17 from the field and 10-for-10 from the free-throw line, and she added nine rebounds, three assists and a block.
• The Penguins rank 18
th nationally with 8.7 three-point field goals per game.
• Rachel Kent recorded 15.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and one steal for IUPUI in a pair of games in Wisconsin this week.
• The Jaguars rank eighth among Division I teams in three-point field goal percentage defense (25.6), 14
th in rebound margin (9.0), and 17
th in three-point field goal percentage (36.3).
• IUPUI’s Macee Williams (62.9) and YSU’s Lilly Ritz (58.8) both rank in the top ten nationally in field goal percentage.
• Green Bay is tenth in the country in field goal percentage defense (34.9) and 19
th in scoring defense (54.6).
• Cleveland State’s Destiny Leo leads the League with 18.7 points per game this season.
• NKU’s Lindsey Duvall posted her eighth double-double of the season on Sunday with 18 points and 11 rebounds at RMU.
• Emma Wittmershaus scored 20 points to lead Milwaukee offensively while Megan Walstad recorded 14 points and 14 rebounds for a double-double as the Panthers earned a win over Green Bay on Monday.
• Kahlaijah Dean paced Oakland this week with 15.0 points per game, adding 6.0 rebounds.
• RMU leads the League in turnover margin (2.42) this season.
• Purdue Fort Wayne ranks fourth nationally in free throw percentage (80.5) while Milwaukee (80.2) and Green Bay (79.5) also rank in the top ten.
• Wright State’s Jada Roberson (13.8) and Destyne Jackson (13.4) both rank in the top ten in the League in scoring.
• UIC’s Jaida McCloud is fifth among #HLWBB players with 16.1 points per game this season.
• Irene Murua paces Detroit Mercy with 6.9 rebounds per game.
