INDIANAPOLIS – Saturday’s #HLMBB action saw Wright State and Youngstown State each complete weekend sweeps, while Detroit Mercy and RMU were able to salvage the weekend as both earned wins on the road.

GAME RECAPS
RMU 66, IUPUI 49
- RMU salvaged a weekend split and have now won three out of its last four games as it picked up its first HL road win of the season.
- Kahliel Spear registered his sixth double-double of the season for the Colonials with a team-best 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Enoch Cheeks went 5-of-7 from the floor for 14 points.
- IUPUI’s B.J. Maxwell scored 16 points and Boston Stanton III finished with 10.
- RMU led by just one at the half, but started the second period on a 12-2 run that helped the Colonials outscore the Jags 38-22 over the final 20 minutes.
Youngstown State 66, UIC 64
- The Penguins won its fourth consecutive game and earned its second weekend sweep in a row to improve to 8-6 in Horizon League play.
- YSU’s Tevin Olison posted his fourth 20-point performance of the season with 21 points and Dwyane Cohill poured in 19. Michael Akuchie recorded his second-straight double-double with 11 points and 11 boards.
- Damaria Franklin led all scorers with 23 points for the Flames, while Jalen Warren tallied 13 off the bench and Jace Carter added 10.
- Youngstown State led by as many as nine in the second half, but UIC used a 19-7 run to take a 55-52 lead with less than six minutes to play. After trading the lead for the next few minutes, the ‘Guins regained the lead for good on a pair of driving layups by Cohill with 90 seconds to play followed by clutch free throws by Shemar Rathan-Mayes.
Detroit Mercy 74, Northern Kentucky 68
- The Titans earned a hard fought win on the road to go 1-1 over the weekend in the second game of a back-to-back and snapped the Norse’s six-game winning streak.
- Antoine Davis led Detroit Mercy with 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting with three triples. During the game, he became the Horizon League’s all-time leading scorer during HL play and now sits at 1,490 points.
- Detroit Mercy’s Kevin McAdoo, D.J. Harvey and Madut Akec each tallied 15 points in the win.
- Three NKU players finished in double figures paced by Trevon Faulkner with 18, while Sam Vinson and Marques Warrick each tallied 17.
- After the Norse tied the game at 55-55 with under six minutes to play, the Titans finished the night shooting 5-for-6 from the floor with three 3-pointers and made all six of their free throw attempts to seal the win. Davis scored 10 of his 19 points over the final five-plus minutes of the game.
Wright State 75, Oakland 64
- The Raiders won its second game in as many days to extend their win streak to three and improve to 11-4 in Horizon League play.
- WSU’s Trey Calvin led all scorers with 23 points and Tanner Holden recorded 19 points. Grant Basile posted his third double-double during HL play with 16 points and 11 boards.
- Blake Lampman recorded a team-best 16 points off the bench for Oakland with four 3-pointers after missing last game. Jamal Cain registered his League-leading 11th double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds and Trey Townsend added 11 points.
- Wright State tied the score at 61-61 with five minutes to play that sparked a 16-3 run to end the game for the Raiders as Calvin and Holden combined for 12 points down the stretch.
