INDIANAPOLIS – The 2022 Keeps Horizon League Women’s Basketball Championship continues with quarterfinal action on Thursday, March 3 as eight teams battle for four spots in the semifinals in Indy.

#HLWBB NEWS & NOTES

• In this week’s College Insider Women’s Mid-Major Top 25, IUPUI moved up to No. 10, Youngstown State ranked No. 18, Green Bay checked in at No. 24 and Cleveland State received votes.

• No. 4 seed Cleveland State picked up two wins over No. 5 seed Northern Kentucky during the regular season with the Vikings winning 63-52 in Highland Heights on Dec. 3 then earning a 59-56 victory in Cleveland on February 5.

• All-League First Team honoree Destiny Leo leads No. 4 seed Cleveland State and the League with 18.6 points per game this season as the Vikings pace #HLWBB with 71.4 points per game. CSU also ranks first in the League defensively in blocked shots (4.3) and steals (9.5).

• No. 5 seed Northern Kentucky defeated No. 12 seed Detroit Mercy, 73-50, on Tuesday in Highland Heights to advance to the quarterfinals. Emmy Souder led NKU with 12 points while Ivy Turner and Lindsey Duvall added 10 points each in the victory.

• Top-seeded IUPUI posted a 2-0 record this season against No. 8 seed RMU, including a 73-40 win in the Jungle on the final day of the regular season.

• No. 1 seed IUPUI leads the League in team field-goal percentage (45.4 percent) and team three-point field goal percentage (36.9 percent) while Player of the Year Macee Williams tops the individual leaderboard in field-goal percentage (63.2 percent) while All-League Third Team member Rachel Kent paces #HLWBB in three-point field goal percentage (41.4 percent).

• No. 8 seed RMU picked up a 70-56 win over No. 9 seed Purdue Fort Wayne at the UPMC Event Center on Tuesday to move into the quarterfinals. Sol Castro posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds while Mackenzie Amalia, Esther Castedo and Simone Morris also scored in double figures for RMU.

• No. 2 seed Youngstown State and No. 7 seed Oakland split their two regular season matchups this season with each team winning on the road. The Penguins defeated the Golden Grizzlies 79-68 on November18 before Oakland earned a 56-52 win on January 30 in Youngstown.

• No. 2 seed Youngstown State won its first Horizon League title, and it is a conference regular-season champion for the first time since winning the Mid-Continent Conference in 1998-99. All-League First Team honoree Lilly Ritz leads the Penguins with 16.8 points and 9.6 rebounds this season while All-League Second Team choice Chelsea Olson averages a League-best 4.7 assists this season.

• No. 7 seed Oakland earned a 54-45 home win over No. 10 Wright State on Tuesday to advance to the quarterfinals. Lamariyee Williams led OAK with 16 points and 10 rebounds in the win while Breanne Beatty added 11 points.

• No. 3 seed Green Bay and No. 6 seed Milwaukee have battled twice in the last month with each picking up a win at home. The Phoenix won the Feb. 7 contest 65-56 before the Panthers collected a 50-48 victory on Feb. 21.

• No. 3 seed Green Bay leads the League in scoring defense (55.1 points), opponent field-goal percentage (34.9 percent) and turnover margin (2.2). All-League First Team honoree Hailey Oskey leads the Phoenix offensively with 13.1 points per game.

• No. 6 seed Milwaukee outlasted No. 11 seed UIC on Thursday night, defeating the Flames, 55-46, in the Klotsche Center to advance to the quarterfinals. Megan Walstad led MKE with 14 points and eight rebounds while Sydney Staver chipped in 11 points.
