Nike #HLBASE Players of the Week (March 22)
INDIANAPOLIS – Youngstown State’s Seth Lucero recorded double-digit hits, four for extra bases, and hit .500 to lead the Penguins to a 3-1 week including a series win during the opening weekend of HL action to collect Nike #HLBASE Batter of the Week, while Oakland’s Bryce Konitzer nearly tossed a complete game during the series-opening win at Wright State with eight strikeouts and Youngstown State’s Jon Snyder totaled 10 strikeouts over 6.1 scoreless innings to earn Nike #HLBASE Co-Pitchers of the Week as the Horizon League announced its baseball weekly honors on Tuesday.

Seth Lucero | Youngstown State | Sophomore | Infielder | Arvada, Colo.
Lucero batted .500 and slugged .850 with 10 hits in 20 at bats over four games played this past week to lead Youngstown State to a 3-1 record. He recorded two doubles, a triple and a home run to go along with five RBIs. He also registered six runs scored, 17 total bases and two stolen bases. Lucero began the week going 2-for-4 with a double, a home run and two runs scored in YSU’s 5-2 win at Pitt on Wednesday. He then went 3-for-5 with two RBIs, two stolen bases and a run scored in YSU’s 4-0 win at Purdue Fort Wayne on Friday. The Arvada, Colo., native went 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in game one of Sunday’s doubleheader before going 3-for-6 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored in YSU’s 12-6 victory in game two of the doubleheader.

Bryce Konitzer | Oakland | Senior | Right-Handed Pitcher | Mukwonago, Wis.
Konitzer led Oakland to a win in the series opener at Wright State to help the Golden Grizzlies pick up a series victory over the Raiders for the first time in program history. Konitzer was one out away from throwing a complete game against WSU as he pitched an impressive 8.2 innings, allowing two runs and scattered six hits. He also posted a season-high eight strikeouts in the 4-2 victory. With the series win, Oakland handed Wright State its first series loss at home since 2013.

Jon Snyder | Youngstown State | Senior | Right-Handed Pitcher | Springboro, Ohio
Snyder allowed just one hit and had a season-high 10 strikeouts over 6.1 innings to lead Youngstown State to a 4-0 victory in its Horizon League opener against Purdue Fort Wayne on Friday. Snyder did not allow a hit until a one-out single in the bottom of the sixth inning. He retired the first six batters he faced and he faced the minimum in each of the first five frames. The senior right-hander retired the side in order in the first, second and fifth innings. The Springboro, Ohio, native recorded a strikeout in six different innings, and he had multiple punch outs in four different frames as he earned his first victory of the season. He was also named a National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball.
