INDIANAPOLIS – Oakland’s Ian Cleary hit .363 with four home runs, including a grand slam, and tied a school record with three home runs in a single game to take home Nike #HLBASE Batter of the Week, while Milwaukee’s Nick Gilhaus tossed 6.0 scoreless innings in a shutout victory at BYU to earn Nike #HLBASE Pitcher of the Week as the Horizon League announced its baseball weekly honors on Wednesday.

Ian Cleary | Oakland | Junior | Outfielder | Macomb, Mich.
In the four-game series against Marshall, Cleary added his name to the Oakland University baseball record book as he tied for the most home runs in a game after he hit three out of the park in the third game of the series. Cleary’s first long ball came in the fourth inning with a solo shot to right field followed by a three-run blast to right-center field in the seventh inning. He capped off the 10-4 win for the Golden Grizzlies with another solo home run in the ninth inning. The record was previously set in 2004. Cleary also had a grand slam home run in the first game of the doubleheader, earning him four home runs for the day and tying the school’s single day record set by Ryan Heath in 2007 when he hit also hit four home runs in a doubleheader, including three grand slams. The junior finished the series hitting .363 with four home runs, tallied nine RBIs, scored five runs, and drew five walks.

#HLBASE Pitcher of the Week
Nick Gilhaus | Milwaukee | Sophomore | Right-Handed Pitcher | Bloomington, Ill.
Gilhaus earned his first start of the season on Thursday and earned an impressive win at BYU. The sophomore tossed six scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and striking out five while walking two. Gilhaus set the pace for Milwaukee, who pitched its first shutout of the year after the bullpen closed with two scoreless frames after the righty. In 10.2 innings this season, Gilhaus has allowed just two earned runs. He has struck out 11 and owns a 1.69 ERA.
