Commissioner Julie Roe Lach Statement on Former Commissioner Jon LeCrone's Final Day with the Horizon League
Today marks the last official day of incredible leadership and service by
Commissioner Jon LeCrone working tirelessly on behalf of the Horizon League. After serving as Commissioner of the League for 29 years, Jon has been an advisor, advocate, champion and supporter of the League ensuring continued success.
Jon is a national leader in college sports, including service on the Men’s Basketball Committee and Men’s Soccer Committee, which he also chaired. Jon is a fierce champion of equity responsible for launching the Women’s Leadership Symposium and the
#OneHL initiative that lives on today and launched the annual
John McClendon Day celebrated in the League.
Jon’s leadership shaped the current membership of the League and helped secure the
Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships in their home at the Indiana Farmer’s Coliseum. Jon is an innovator and started the first-ever conference network that today broadcasts 700+ events to ESPN+ providing incredible exposure for so many HL student-athletes.
It’s impossible to capture Jon’s impact nationally, regionally and locally on college sports and the greater Indianapolis sports strategy, which includes the Horizon League hosting nearly 10 NCAA Final Fours under Jon’s leadership.
Most of all, Jon is one of the most loyal friends with uncompromising integrity and I’m grateful to have benefited from his mentorship and leadership as a member of the HL team. Thank you, Jon!
