INDIANAPOLIS – Week 4 of #HLMBB play began on Thursday with Milwaukee taking sole possession of first place in the standings with a win at home, while Oakland and Youngstown State each won setting up a clash of 5-2 teams on Saturday. Rounding out Thursday’s action were Purdue Fort Wayne and Wright State winning on the road.

Youngstown State 84, Detroit Mercy 79
- Youngstown State won its third consecutive game to improve to 5-2 and remain in a share of second place, while a short-handed Detroit Mercy squad dropped its fourth in a row.
- Brandon Rush led four YSU players in double figures with 19 points on five 3-pointers. Adrian Nelson recorded 16 points, while Malek Green and Bryce McBride each tallied 12.
- Antoine Davis registered his League-leading fourth 30-point game of the season for the Titans with 32 points on 11 field goals. Gerald Liddell returned from a two-game absence with 24 points.
- The Penguins shot over 50 percent from the floor for the fourth time during Horizon League play, including going 11-for-25 from distance, and held the Titans to just 26.1 percent from 3-point range.
Purdue Fort Wayne 70, IUPUI 55
- The Mastodons got back over .500 in Horizon League play at 4-3 with a win over its in-state rival on the road.
- Jarred Godfrey posted his third-straight 20-point game for Purdue Fort Wayne with 22 points. Deonte Billups added 15 points and Bobby Planutis chipped in 12.
- Chris Osten paced the Jags with 12 as nine different IUPUI players scored.
- The ‘Dons came into the game holding opponents to a League-best 28.5 shooting percentage from 3-point range and that trend continued tonight holding the Jags to just 1-for-12 from distance.
Oakland 69, RMU 65
- The Golden Grizzlies extended their winning streak to five games with their fourth-straight win at home to improve to 5-2 in League play.
- Trey Townsend registered a career-best 30 points for the third time this season for Oakland on 10-made field goals and 9-of-10 shooting from the foul line. Blake Lampman hit six 3-pointers for 18 points.
- RMU finished with a pair of 20-point performers led by Kahliel Spear recording a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds and Enoch Cheeks tallying 20 points.
- The game came down to the wire as the Colonials took a 65-63 lead with 1:36 left in regulation on a 4-point play by Cheeks before Townsend scored the game’s final six points on a dunk to tie the game followed by knocking down all four free-throw attempts in the final seconds to seal the win.
Wright State 99, Green Bay 67
- Wright State improved to 3-4 in HL play after picking up its second road win against a League opponent.
- Reigning #HLMBB Freshman of the Week Brandon Noel led all scorers with a career-high 32 points for the Raiders on 14-of-17 shooting from the floor and added 12 boards for his fourth-straight double-double. Trey Calvin scored 16 points, while Amari Davis added 15 and Tim Finke totaled 13.
- Five Green Bay players finished in double figures with Cade Meyer pacing the Phoenix with 13 points as he went 5-for-5 from the floor, followed by Garren Davis and Zae Blake with 12 apiece.
- The 99 points by the Raiders are the second-most scored in a HL game this season, while WSU’s shooting percentage of 71.9 is the highest by a Horizon League team against a Division I opponent this season.
Milwaukee 80, Northern Kentucky 75
- In the game that pitted the top two teams in the HL standings, Milwaukee came out on top to take sole possession of first place, while Northern Kentucky dropped its first HL road game of the season to fall to 5-2.
- Milwaukee’s BJ Freeman, the reigning #HLMBB Player of the Week, scored a season-high 28 points on 7-of-11 shooting with five triples and shot a perfect 9-for-9 from the foul line. Kentrell Pullian tallied 15 points and Ahmad Rand registered 11.
- NKU’s Trevon Faulkner scored a season-best 25 points and Marques Warrick recorded 16.
- The Milwaukee offense led the charge tonight as it shot 55.3 percent from the floor and recorded 20 assists, both season-high marks against Division I opponents.
