INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI, Northern Kentucky and Youngstown State went 2-0 in #HLWBB week five as the Penguins are tied with Cleveland State and Green Bay for the top spot in the standings halfway through the regular season slate.
#HLWBB NEWS & NOTES
- In this week’s College Insider Women’s Mid-Major Top 25 poll, three #HLWBB teams ranked in the top 17 as Youngstown State ranked No. 15, Green Bay ranked No. 16 and Cleveland State ranked No. 17.
- In Youngstown State’s two road wins against Green Bay and Milwaukee this week, Lilly Ritz averaged 17 points and went 17-for-25 from the field (68 percent). She was 7-for-8 shooting in a 14-point, seven-rebound effort at Green Bay despite playing less than 19 minutes as the Penguins collected their first win at Green Bay since 2014. Ritz then posted her second double-double of the week by scoring 20 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in the win at Milwaukee.
- Lindsey Duvall averaged 14.5 points and 9.5 rebounds for the Norse this week as they picked up two key home wins.
- Rachel Kent averaged 20 points per game in the Jaguars’ weekend #HLWBB sweep with wins over Detroit Mercy and Oakland as she was just shy of a double-double in the win over Oakland with a career-high 30 points and eight rebounds.
- Sydney Levy averaged 14.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game for the Phoenix this week. She posted a season-high 21 points against RMU on Sunday and was efficient from the field, shooting 55 percent from the field and 57.2 percent from beyond the arc.
- Destiny Leo averaged 24.0 points on a .542 clip from the field for Cleveland State this week. She scored 31 points on 9-for-14 shooting in the win at Wright State - including an 8-for-11 clip from behind the arc and followed this up with 17 points at Northern Kentucky. The junior notched a perfect 13-for-13 effort from the free throw line on the week and also added four assists, one blocked shot and one steal.
- Oakland’s Breanne Beatty posted 18.0 points and shot 50 percent from the floor for the Golden Grizzlies this weekend.
- Milwaukee’s Kendall Nead averaged 18.0 points per game on the week with a season-high 19 in the team’s win over Robert Morris on Friday and followed that up with 17 vs. Youngstown State. Nead shot 48.1 percent from the field, and 30.0 percent from beyond the arc.
- Purdue Fort Wayne’s Amellia Bromenschenkel led #HLWBB with 3.5 steals per game this weekend.
- Phoenix Gedeon paced the Colonials with 16.5 points and 8.5 rebounds this week.
- Lauren Scott scored a career-high 15 points for the Raiders to go along with three rebounds and three assists in just 22 minutes against Cleveland State on Friday.. The freshman guard shot 6-of-10 from the field, which included a 3-of-5 mark on 3-pointers.
- Detroit Mercy’s Emma Trawally Porta led the League in field goal percentage this week, shooting 71.4 percent (10-14) from the floor.
