INDIANAPOLIS (January 30, 2023) – Cleveland State’s Destiny Leo earned Nike® #HLWBB Player of the Week for the third time this season while Oakland’s Brooke Quarles-Daniels picked up Nike® #HLWBB Freshman of the Week for the fifth time. Leo averaged 27.0 points per game in a 2-0 week for the Vikings while shooting 62 percent from the field. Quarles-Daniels posted 16.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists for the Golden Grizzlies.

Leo led Cleveland State to a pair of wins to remain in a tie for first place in the #HLWBB standings as she averaged 27.0 points on the week while shooting 62-percent from the field. She opened the week with 31 points on a .769 clip from the floor (10-for-13) in the win at Detroit Mercy as she recorded a trio of three-pointers and went 8-for-8 from the free throw line against the Titans. The junior followed that up with 23 points in the win at Oakland, including a perfect 12-for-12 effort from the free throw line. Leo now has a League-best nine 20-point games this season. She also combined for three steals and three assists on the week.

Extending her streak of eight consecutive games scoring in double figures and bumping her season total up to 12 points per contest, point guard Brooke Quarles-Daniels averaged 16.0 points, seven rebounds and 3.5 assists in Oakland’s two games this week. The freshman began the week with 18 points on 8-11 shooting against the Mastodons before posting 14 points and eight rebounds against the Vikings on Saturday.
