INDIANAPOLIS – The second half of the #HLWBB regular season slate tipped off this week with Cleveland State, Green Bay, Purdue Fort Wayne and Youngstown State posting 2-0 records.
#HLWBB NEWS & NOTES
- In this week’s College Insider Women’s Mid-Major Top 25 poll, League-leaders Youngstown State, Green Bay and Cleveland State all moved up two spots with the Penguins moving to No. 13, the Phoenix up to No. 14 and the Vikings to No. 15.
- Amele Ngwafang posted 14.0 points and 10.5 rebounds for Cleveland State this week as the Vikings went 2-0 on the road.
- Lilly Ritz averaged 17.5 points and a league-high 13.0 rebounds while shooting 71.4 percent from the field in leading Youngstown State to a pair of home victories last week. She was a rebound shy of posting her second 20-20 game of the season on Thursday against Wright State, finishing with 23 points and 19 rebounds in 35 minutes. She was 10-for-13 from the field versus the Raiders.
- Green Bay leads the League and ranks 10th nationally in scoring defense as the Phoenix are allowing opponents to score just 53.6 points per game this season.
- Amellia Bromenschenkel led Purdue Fort Wayne to a 2-0 week with wins over Oakland and Detroit Mercy. She averaged 20.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 2.0 steals and 0.5 blocks per game this week. She shot 68.2 percent from the floor (15-of-22) and 66.7 percent from the 3-point line (4-of-6).
- IUPUI has three players in the top eight of the #HLWBB scoring leaderboard with Jazmyn Turner (16.8 points), Destiny Perkins (14.6 points) and Rachel Kent (13.3 points) representing the Jaguars.
- Bryce Nixon averaged 13.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 steals over two games for Wright State last week. The senior guard shot 45.8 percent (11-of-24) from the field, which included a team-best four 3-pointers. Nixon scored in double figures in both games, highlighted by 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting and a 2-of-4 mark on threes at Youngstown State.
- Lindsey Duvall averaged 13.0 rebounds and 10.0 points for Northern Kentucky in 1-1 road trip this week.
- Oakland’s Alexis Johnson posted 11.0 points and 5.0 rebounds for the Golden Grizzlies this week.
- Emma Wittmershaus averaged 17.5 points per game this week, which saw the redshirt senior record a career-best 25 points in the team’s matchup against IUPUI on Saturday. In addition to her point total, Wittmershaus recorded a career-high 11 field goals made, going 11-for-16 from the field.
- Simone Morris paced RMU with 13.5 points and 8.5 rebounds this week while shooting 35.7 percent from the floor.
- Irene Murua leads Detroit Mercy with 11.3 points and 7.9 rebounds per game this season.
