INDIANAPOLIS – Week 3 of #HLMBB play began on Thursday with Milwaukee winning an overtime thriller on the road to take sole possession of second place in the standings, while Purdue Fort Wayne and Youngstown State each won at home to move into a tie for third place.

  • Purdue Fort Wayne won its second game in a row to improve to 3-2 during HL play.
  • The Mastodons were paced by Jarred Godfrey with 23 points on 11-of-11 shooting from the foul line. Damian Chong Qui finished with 13 points, while Anthony Roberts and Ra Kpedi each fell one rebound shy of a double-double with 12 points and 11 points, respectively.
  • Three Green Bay players scored in double figures led by Clarence Cummings III tying Godfrey for a game-high 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting, including 3-for-4 from distance. Cade Meyer recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards and Ryan Wade added 10 points.
  • The ‘Dons held a 37-25 rebound advantage, including a 15-5 lead on the offensive glass, and outscored the Phoenix 17-5 in second-chance points
Youngstown State 78, RMU 56
  • The Penguins have won four out of their last five games and moved above .500 during Horizon League play at 3-2.
  • YSU’s Dwayne Cohill scored a game-best 23 points on 9-of-12 shooting from the floor to go along with seven assists and three steals. Brandon Rush recorded 14 points and Adrian Nelson grabbed 10 rebounds.
  • Enoch Cheeks posted 16 points for the Colonials and Stephaun Walker finished with 11.
  • Youngstown State led by just four at halftime, but outscored RMU 49-31 in the second period thanks to shooting 57.1 percent from the floor including 7-of-11 from 3-point range over the final 20 minutes of play.
Milwaukee 68, Cleveland State 64 (OT)
  • MKE picked up its third #HLMBB road win of the season to move to 4-1 and into sole possession of second place in the standings.
  • BJ Freeman was the only Milwaukee player to score in double figures with 24 points on five 3-pointers. Justin Thomas finished with nine points.
  • Tristan Enaruna led the offense for CSU with 16 points, while Tae Williams registered a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
  • The Panthers sent the game to overtime on a Freeman 3-pointer after a Thomas offensive rebound with just 1.3 second left in regulation. Milwaukee then trailed by four in the extra period before scoring the last eight points with Freeman recording the final five including the go-ahead basket with 31 seconds left in OT.
