Nike #HLWBB Players of the Week (January 9)

INDIANAPOLIS (January 9, 2023) – Cleveland State’s Amele Ngwafang earned Nike® #HLWBB Player of the Week while Milwaukee’s Kamy Peppler Nike® #HLWBB Freshman of the Week. Ngwafang averaged 20.5 points and 11.0 rebounds and shot 78 percent from the floor for the Vikings this week as they moved to 6-0 in #HLWBB play. Peppler posted 16.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists while shooting 52.6 percent for the Panthers in a pair of road contests.

Ngwafang averaged a double-double on the week with 20.5 points and 11.0 rebounds and shot 78-percent from the floor (15-for-19). The senior opened the week with a 16-point, 15-rebound double-double against Purdue Fort Wayne and followed that up with 25 points and seven rebounds against IUPUI - tying her career-high with the 25-point performance and shooting 84-percent from the floor in the game (11-for-13). She also combined for four assists and one steal on the week as she led the Vikings to a 2-0 weekend, extending their current win streak to 15 straight games and remaining undefeated in #HLWBB play at 6-0.

Peppler was huge in both games this weekend for Milwaukee and helped lead the Panthers to a win over Wright State on Saturday. In the two contests, the freshman point guard averaged 16.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. She shot 52.6 percent (10-for-19) from the floor, 50 percent (4-for-8) from three-point range, and 81.8 percent (9-for-11) from the free throw line. Against Northern Kentucky, Peppler came alive in the fourth quarter for 14 points and finished with 16 and seven rebounds. In Saturday’s win over Wright State, Peppler went off for a career-high 17 points on 4-for-7 shooting from the floor and 7-for-8 performance from the line and added three assists in the win.
