DAYTON (November 17, 2023) – The 2023 #HLVB Championship began Friday afternoon at Wright State University as the No. 6 seed Cleveland State and No. 4 seed Northern Kentucky collected quarterfinal victories to advance to Saturday’s semifinal action.
 
 
 
No. 6 seed Cleveland State 3, No. 3 seed Milwaukee 1
  • Milwaukee took the first set 25-21.
  • Cleveland State won three straight sets: 25-18, 25-19, 25-19
  • The Vikes were led by Laken Voss with 16 kills and 8 digs
  • All-League First Team honoree Madi Malone led Milwaukee with 17 kills for the match.
  • The Vikes finished with a .343 hitting percentage.
  • Cleveland State advances to the semifinals to take on top-seeded Wright State.
No. 4 seed Northern Kentucky 3, No. 5 seed Oakland 0
  • The Norse took a back and forth first set by a score of 28-26.
  • All-League First Team honoree Joy Banks finished with a double-double: 12 kills, 11 digs
  • Defensive Player of the Year Emily Wichmann had 21 digs on the night for the Golden Grizzlies.
  • All-League First Team member Abby Kanakry led the Norse with 17 kills.
  • Northern Kentucky moves onto the semifinals to face No. 2 seed Green Bay.
