INDIANAPOLIS (November 6, 2023) – The 2023-24 basketball season tips off on Monday for eight #HLWBB teams.

- Green Bay returns to the top spot in the preseason poll for the first time since sharing the title of preseason favorite with Wright State ahead of the 2019-20 season. The Phoenix have won a League-best 16 #HLWBB championships.
- Detroit Mercy’s Irene Murua was named to the 2023-24 #HLWBB Preseason All-League Second Team. Last season, Murua led the Titans in scoring (12.1) and led the League in offensive rebounds per game (3.3)
- 2023-24 #HLWBB Preseason Player of the Year – and reigning 2022-23 #HLWBB Player of the Year – Destiny Leo returns as Cleveland State’s leading scorer from a season ago, as she averaged 17.9 points per game to lead all League players.
- The IUPUI Jaguars return with second-year head coach Kate Bruce, who recently had her contract extended to the 2026-27 season. The Jags are led by Jazmyn Turner, who earned 2023-24 #HLWBB Preseason All-League First Team honors.
- Milwaukee’s Kendall Nead was selected to the 2023-24 #HLWBB Preseason All-League Second Team after leading the Panthers in scoring last season.
- Northern Kentucky enters this season voted to finish fifth in the preseason poll. Kailee Davis, who shot 35 percent from three last season, represents the Norse with a spot on the 2023-24 #HLWBB Preseason All-League Second Team.
- The Oakland Golden Grizzlies enter the 2023-24 season led by reigning 2022-23 #HLWBB Freshman of the Year Brooke Quarles-Daniels. Quarles-Daniels, who was selected to the 2023-24 #HLWBB Preseason All-League First Team, led the HL in steals per game (2.1) last season.
- Selected to finish fourth in the preseason poll, Purdue Fort Wayne touts two student- athletes on the 2023-24 #HLWBB Preseason All-League teams: Amellia Bromenschenkel and Shayla Sellers.
- RMU welcomes eight newcomers to their 2023-24 roster, including six freshman and two transfers. Of the returning Colonials, Simone Morris is the only returner to start in all 30 games last season.
- Wright State enter the 2023-24 season bringing in seven newcomers and returning two starters from last season in Kacee Baumhower and Cara VanKempen.The Raiders also look to continue their success shooting beyond the arc, as they ranked second in the nation in 3-pointers per game (10.1).
- Youngstown State begins the 2023-24 season picked to finish third in the League. 2023- 24 #HLWBB Preseason All-League Second Team selection Malia Magestro is one of eight players on a veteran roster who is entering the season with at least three years of Division I experience.
