INDIANAPOLIS – Week 8 of #HLMBB play ended on Sunday with Cleveland State and Northern Kentucky each winning at home to pull into a tie for third place and just one game behind first place in the standings, while RMU earned a comeback victory on the road.

Northern Kentucky 86, IUPUI 47

  • Northern Kentucky finishes 8-2 against HL opponents at home and pull to 11-5 in Horizon League play, just one game behind first place.
  • Marques Warrick posted his sixth 20-point performance during League play for NKU with 21 points on five 3-pointers and added six assists. Trevon Faulkner finished with 15 points and Chris Brandon went 6-for-6 from the floor for 13 points.
  • Vincent Brady II scored a team-high 17 points for IUPUI to lead nine Jags that scored at least two points.
  • The Norse shot 60 percent (30-50) from the floor including 50 percent (13-26) from distance, while holding an HL opponent to under 60 points for the eighth time this season.
RMU 71, Purdue Fort Wayne 64
  • The Colonials snapped a three-game losing skid to pull to 7-9 in HL play and handed the Mastodons their third-straight loss to fall to 7-9 and in a share of seventh place.
  • RMU’s Michael Green II led all scorers with 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting, while Kahliel Spear totaled 12 points and Stephaun Walker fell one points shy of a double-double with 10 boards and nine points.
  • Jarred Godfrey scored 23 points to break Purdue Fort Wayne’s all-time scoring record set by John Konchar and ended the game with 2,068 career points. Bobby Planutis added 15 points with four 3-pointers.
  • RMU trailed by as many as 18 points in the game and were down 37-24 at halftime before finishing the game on a 16-2 run over the final 5:02 with Green tallying nine of his 24 points over the stretch. The Colonials also forced 21 turnovers and held a 21-7 advantage in points off turnovers.
Cleveland State 81, Youngstown State 78
  • Cleveland State earned a weekend sweep at home and snapped Youngstown State’s five-game winning streak to pull into a share of third place in the standings at 11-5, just one game out of first place. YSU falls to 12-4 and in a tie for first place.
  • Tae Williams paced CSU with 20 points, his second 20-point game this season, followed closely by Tristan Enaruna with 18. Drew Lowder finished with 15 and Deshon Parker chipped in 12.
  • Four YSU players ended the game in double figures as Brandon Rush tied the game-high with 20 points and Dwayne Cohill scored 17. Adrian Nelson registered a double-double with 19 rebounds, the most boards during League play this season, and 12 points, while Malek Green added 10 points.
  • Neither team led by more than eight points the entire game with the biggest difference coming from the foul line as CSU made 21 shots from the free-throw line, while YSU, who came into the game as one of the top free-throw shooting teams in the country, shot 62.5 percent (10-16) from the charity stripe.
