INDIANAPOLIS – League leaders Cleveland State and Green Bay both extended their winning streaks to seven games this week, clinching top-four seeds in the upcoming Barbasol #HLWBB championships.Cleveland State and Green Bay are tied for first place in the #HLWBB standings with three weeks left in the regular season.

#HLWBB NEWS & NOTES

  • In this week’s College Insider Women’s Mid-Major Top 25 poll, Cleveland State moved up to No. 11, Green Bay moved up to No. 12 and Youngstown State moved up to No. 21.
  • Cleveland State ranks in the top ten in the country in scoring margin (19.3 points) and in the top 25 in scoring offense (76.9 points). Destiny Leo leads the League and is among the national leaders with a free throw percentage of 92.4. She also paces #HLWBB in scoring with 18.6 points per game.
  • Green Bay ranks third nationally in field-goal percentage defense (33.0), eighth in scoring defense (53.2 points per game) and eighth in turnovers per game (12.1). Bailey Butler leads the League in assist-turnover ratio (2.2) and ranks second in assists per game (4.0).
  • Youngstown State’s Lilly Ritz is in the top ten nationally with 14 double-doubles this season and ranks 12th in field goal percentage (60.4). Ritz leads the League in rebounding (10.6 per game) while she is second in scoring (17.5 points per game). Megan Callahan is in the top 20 nationally in three-point percentage (42.9.)
  • IUPUI’s Destiny Perkins leads #HLWBB with 4.1 assists per game this season and ranks fourth in scoring with 14.2 points per game.
  • Northern Kentucky’s Kailee Davis averaged 18.0 points per game, 2.3 assists per game and 4.3 rebounds per contest this week. She finished the week shooting 42 percent (19-for-45) and 50 percent from three point range (9-for-18) for the Norse as NKU earned a road win at Milwaukee.
  • Jazzlyn Linbo had a career night at IUPUI on Thursday, scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds for the Mastodons, both were career-high marks. She also shot 72.7 percent from the floor in the contest.
  • Oakland ranks 24th nationally with 14.6 offensive rebounds per game. Brooke Quarles-Daniels leads all #HLWBB freshman with 11.4 points per contest.
  • Senior Megan Walstad averaged 19.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game this week for the Panthers, scoring a season-high 21 points against Wright State on Friday, while following that up with a career-best three three-pointers en route to a 17-point effort against Northern Kentucky. She had her third double-double of the season against the Raiders as she finished the game with 11 rebounds. For the week, she was 15-of-23 (65.2%) from the floor, and a perfect 3-for-3 from three, while also going a perfect 5-for-5 from the stripe, as she is now tied for 10th on the all-time scoring list at Milwaukee.
  • RMU is third nationally in three-point field goal percentage defense as opponents are making just 24.2 percent of three-point attempts against the Colonials. Phoenix Gedeon paces RMU offensively with 13.4 points per game, adding 8.5 rebounds per game.
  • Emily Chapman averaged 15.5 points, 3.5 assists and 3.0 rebounds over two games for Wright State last week. The senior guard shot 56.5% (13-of-23) from the field, including a 41.7% (5-of-12) mark on 3-pointers. Chapman was at her best in WSU’s 74-65 victory at Milwaukee, finishing with a season-high 28 points on 12-of-15 shooting. The Proctorville, Ohio native surpassed 1,500 collegiate in the third quarter of the win.
  • Emma Trawally Porta put together two great performances averaging 21.5 per game while shooting 17-for-21 (81.0%) from the field, 7-for-9 (77.8%) from the free throw line, 2-for-3 (66.7%) from 3-point range with 14 rebounds (8.0 per game), 3 blocks and 2 steals to lead Detroit Mercy to a 1-1 mark for the week.
