INDIANAPOLIS – Friday’s #HLMBB action featured Cleveland State earning a victory in front of a national television audience on ESPNU to pull into a three-way tie for second place that includes Northern Kentucky who also claimed a win tonight, while Detroit Mercy earned a Metro Series victory on the road.

Northern Kentucky 63, Purdue Fort Wayne 50

  • Northern Kentucky won its second game in a row and its fourth HL road game of the season to pull back into a share of second place in the standings at 12-5. Purdue Fort Wayne dropped its fourth-straight game to fall to 7-10 on the season.
  • Marques Warrick led all scorers with 22 points for NKU for his seventh 20-point game during HL play. Xavier Rhodes and Sam Vinson each added nine points.
  • Jarred Godfrey paced the Mastodons with 14 points and Deonte Billups finished with 12.
  • The Norse trailed 45-44 with just under 10 minutes to play in the second half before ending the game on a 19-5 run. Warrick and Vinson combined for 14 of the 19 points during the stretch and NKU’s defense allowed just one field goal.  
Detroit Mercy 96, Oakland 74
  • The Titans earned a series split of this year’s Metro Series against Oakland and pull to 8-9 in HL play, while the Golden Grizzlies drop to 10-8 but remain in fifth place in the standings.
  • Antoine Davis recorded 30 points on seven 3-pointers for Detroit Mercy and A.J. Oliver ended with a career-best 25 points. Gerald Liddell registered his eighth double-double of the season with 13 points and 18 rebounds.
  • Oakland’s Jalen Moore scored a game-high 37 points on 11-of-15 shooting from the floor and 14-of-16 shooting from the foul line. Trey Townsend tallied 11 points and Keaton Hervey chipped in 10.
  • Detroit Mercy shot a season-high 58.3 percent (35-60) from the floor including 50 percent (13-26) from distance, while holding Oakland to 5-of-23 shooting from 3-point range.
Cleveland State 85, Wright State 68
  • Cleveland State pulled to 12-5 in Horizon League play in front of a national television audience on ESPNU as it improves to 8-1 at home against HL opponents. Wright State’s win streak was snapped at three as it falls to 9-8.
  • Four CSU players finished in double figures led by Tristan Enaruna with 20 points and 11 boards for his second double-double during HL play. Yahel Hill posted 17 points off the bench followed by Drew Lowder with 16 points and Tae Williams added 13.
  • Trey Calvin recorded his 11th 20-point performance during HLMBB play for WSU with 25 points on 4-of-5 shooting from behind the arc. Andrew Welage scored 14 points off the bench and Brandon Noel totaled 10.
  • The Vikings won the rebounding battle 46-28 and outscored the Raiders 50-24 in the paint as CSU shot 53.0 percent (35-66) from the floor.
