INDIANAPOLIS – Milwaukee’s BJ Freeman posted a triple-double and set a new career-high in points to help the Panthers go 2-0 for the week and earn the No. 2 seed for the Barbasol Horizon League Men’s Basketball Championship to earn Nike® #HLMBB Player of the Week, while IUPUI’s DJ Jackson was named the Nike® #HLMBB Freshman of the Week as he averaged 19.5 points including registering his first career double-double with a career-best 24 points as the Horizon League announced its final men’s basketball weekly honors on Sunday.

HLMBB Player of the Week
BJ Freeman | Milwaukee | Sophomore | Guard/Forward | Selma, N.C.
Freeman notches his third Player of the Week honor of the season as he led the way in a 2-0 week for the Panthers, averaging 25.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 7.0 assists in the two games, to help Milwaukee to a second-place finish in the Horizon League standings. The second-place finish is the team's best finish since the 2010-11 campaign. Freeman started the week with the first triple-double by a Horizon League player since the 2020-21 season with 19 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists against Purdue Fort Wayne to mark the fifth triple-double in program history. He followed that up with a career-high 31 points in the victory over Cleveland State Saturday to help vault MKE to the No. 2 seed for the upcoming Barbasol Horizon League Men’s Basketball Championship. He also shot 88.2 percent (15-of-17) from the free throw line over the two outings and added three steals.

Jackson picks up his second Freshman of the Week honor in a row, his third in the past four weeks, and the program’s ninth of the season after averaging 19.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game while shooting 56 percent (14-of-25) from the floor and a perfect 11-of-11 from the foul line. Jackson began the week registering his first career double-double with a career-high 24 points (7-11 FG, 10-10 FT), 12 rebounds, two steals and an assist in the win over Robert Morris on Thursday, playing a career-high 36 minutes in that game.
