INDIANAPOLIS – Week 8 of #HLMBB play continued on Thursday with Milwaukee and Oakland picking up victories to keep pace with the top of the standings.

  • Oakland won its second game in a row and moves to 9-6 in Horizon League, just a half game behind fourth place in the standings.
  • Trey Townsend led all scorers for the Golden Grizzlies with his third consecutive double-double posting 23 points and 12 rebounds. Jalen Moore added 10 points and seven assists.
  • Davin Zeigler led Green Bay with 14 points, while Cade Meyer registered a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards and Clarence Cummings III also added 12 points.
  • Oakland’s defense held Green Bay to 27.5 percent (14-51) shooting from the floor and 6-of-25 shooting from distance as the 47 points are the fewest allowed by the Golden Grizzlies against a Division I opponent this season.
Milwaukee 94, Detroit Mercy 89
  • The Panthers bounce back with a win at home to improve to 11-4 in League play, while Detroit Mercy drops to 6-9 after its two-game winning streak was snapped.
  • Five Milwaukee players finished in double figures paced by BJ freeman with his second double-double of the season with 26 points and 10 assists. Markeith Browning II totaled 17 points, while Kentrell Pullian and Ahmad Rand each scored 15 and Moses Bol chipped in 10.
  • Detroit Mercy’s Antoine Davis recorded his third 40-point effort of the season and seventh of his career with 42 points on seven 3-pointers including 30 points in the second half. Gerald Liddell ended the game with 17 points and A.J. Oliver had 12.
  • Milwaukee led by as many as 19 points in the second half before the Titans stormed back with a 29-11 run to take the lead with less than eight minutes left in regulation. Both teams traded the lead down the stretch until MKE’s Elijah Jamison hit a triple with less than 90 seconds on the clock to go up 89-87. The Panthers earned a defensive stop on the next possession with a block and a steal that led to a pair of free throws that put the Panthers in the lead for the remainder of the game.
