INDIANAPOLIS – The Northern Kentucky Norse went 4-0 on the week to keep their spot atop the Horizon League standings, while Wright State stays one behind in the win column for second place in a hotly contested #HLBASE regular-season title race.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • In the first game of a doubleheader against Purdue Fort Wayne, Milwaukee’s Luke Hansel earned 7 strikeouts in 6.2 IP, while the offense had a great day, recording 26 hits and 22 runs in the two games combined. Marcus Cline went 6-for-9 on the day with five RBIs.
  • Manny Vorhees had a monster performance in the Norse’s first game of the series against Oakland, with five RBIs and two home runs in the same inning, including the game-clenching grand slam for the 11-5 victory. On the mound, Clay Brock pitched 7 innings while earning five strikeouts and only two runs. In the second game, Ben Gerl pitched six innings with only one earned run, bringings his earned run average down to 3.62.  In the last game of the series, Kaden Echeman shut-down the Grizzlies for six innings, earning eight strikeouts on the day.
  • Oakland’s Hunter Pidek allowed just one earned run in the five innings pitched against the top offense in the Horizon League, Northern Kentucky.
  • Purdue Fort Wayne’s Justin Miller picked up his fourth save on the season against the Spartans of Michigan State as the Mastodons held on to win by one.
  • Wright State started their series against Youngstown State very hot, as they scored seven runs in the first inning of the first game. The Raiders’ bats were led by #HLBASE Batter of the Week Julian Greenwell and standout sophomore Andrew Patrick. Patrick currently leads the Horizon League in total bases and runs scored, and ranks second in doubles, triples, slugging percentage, and stolen bases.
  • Youngstown State’s Cam Marshalwitz had one of his best performances of his young career in the second game of the series against Wright State, as he allowed just one run on four hits in 5.1 innings while striking out one.
