Wright State Earns No. 1 Seed, Field Set for 2023 #HLBASE Championship

2023 #HLBASE Championship Bracket

INDIANAPOLIS – Wright State earned the Horizon League baseball regular season title and the No. 1 seed for the upcoming 2023 #HLBASE Championship as the championship seeding was announced on Saturday following the end of the regular season. The battle for the tournament title will begin on Wednesday, May 24 from Nischwitz Stadium in Dayton, Ohio.

The Raiders (22-8) clinched their fifth-straight #HLBASE regular season title and will face the lowest-remaining seed from day one at 11 a.m. ET on Thursday, May 25.

Oakland (18-12) secured the No. 2 seed and will also receive a first-round bye following a series win against Northern Kentucky on the final weekend. The Golden Grizzlies will open championship action on Thursday, May 25 at 3 p.m. ET against the highest-remaining seed from Wednesday’s games.

Northern Kentucky (17-13) earned the No. 3 seed in the championship and will face the No. 6 seed Purdue Fort Wayne (8-22) in game two on Wednesday, May 24, scheduled for 4 p.m. ET. The Norse won four of the six games played against the Mastodons this season.

Youngstown State (13-16) picked up the No. 4 seed after winning 10 of its final 12 HL games. The Penguins will battle No. 5 seed Milwaukee (11-18) in the opening game of the championship at noon ET on Wednesday, May 24. The Penguins won four of five regular season contests against the Panthers. Both contests on Wednesday are elimination games.
