INDIANAPOLIS (January 23, 2024) – Purdue Fort Wayne’s Harrison Niswander, Milwaukee’s Natalie Block, Youngstown State’s Blake Sifferlin, and IUPUI’s Modupe Awosanya earned this week’s #HLTF Indoor weekly awards.
MEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK | HARRISON NISWANDER | PURDUE FORT WAYNE | SOPHOMORE | HUNTINGTON, IND.
- Won the 3,000 meters event at the Mastodon Invite on Jan. 20
- Set a school record with a time of 8:20.46
- Holds the best mile time in the Horizon League this year
WOMEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK | NATALIE BLOCK | MILWAUKEE | SENIOR | FRANKLIN, WIS.
- Won the 60m hurdles at the Tierney Classic on Jan. 20
- Set a new program record in the event for the second straight week with a time of 8.25 seconds
- The time extends her lead over the League and puts her at 22nd in the country in the event
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK | BLAKE SIFFERLIN | YOUNGSTOWN STATE | SOPHOMORE | AKRON, OHIO
- Had a career-best performance in the pole vault at the YSU Collegiate Invitational on Jan. 19
- Won the event after clearing a personal-best mark of 5.36m
- Sifferlin is atop the League and tied for 11th in the nation in the pole vault after his performance
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK | MODUPE AWOSANYA | IUPUI | SOPHOMORE | INDIANAPOLIS, IND.
- Broke her own school record in the long jump and set a facility record at the Butler Invitational on Jan. 20
- Had a winning jump of 6.22m, ranking at the top of the Horizon League
- Currently tied for No. 17 in the nation in the long jump event
