INDIANAPOLIS (January 30, 2024) – Green Bay, Wright State and Youngstown State posted 2-0 records in #HLMBB play this week as the Phoenix captured sole possession of first place in the standings, the Penguins moved into a tie for second and the Raiders slid up to fourth. The Raiders and Penguins will battle on ESPNU on Thursday at 9 p.m. ET.

#HLMBB DIG DEEPER
- DJ Burns led the Penguins to a 2-0 record last week with dominating wins at IUPUI and against Northern Kentucky, averaging a double-double with 13.5 points and 12 rebounds per game while shooting 58.8 percent from the floor and adding 2.0 assists, 1.5 blocks and 2.0 steals per game. Burns paces #HLMBB with 9.4 rebounds per game this season.
- Youngstown State leads the League in opponent field goal percentage (40.7), rebounding (40.1), assist/turnover ratio (1.46) and blocked shots (5.09).
- Bryson Langdon paces the Penguins and the League with a 2.5 assist/turnover ratio while freshman Gabe Dynes ranks first in blocked shots (2.2).
- Trey Calvin turned in a pair of 27-point performances as he helped lead Wright State to a pair of road wins last week as the Raiders closed January with a 6-2 overall record for the month with a 4-1 mark on the road. Calvin’s four-point play just over a minute into overtime on Thursday night gave the Raiders the lead they would not surrender and Wright State finished off the road win to snap Cleveland State’s 18-game home winning streak. He leads the League with 20.0 points per game this season.
- Wright State leads the nation with a team field goal percentage of 53.6 and leads #HLMBB in scoring offense (86.1), three-point field goal percentage (38.9), free throw percentage (76.9) and assists (16.4).
- Raiders Tanner Holden (56.2) and Brandon Noel (55.0) pace #HLMBB in field goal percentage.
- The fourth edition of our Coach John McLendon Celebration will take place Thursday, February 1 through Sunday, February 4. The initiative, which highlights the major impact of Coach McLendon, will be held in conjunction with the Youngstown State at Wright State men’s basketball game at 9 p.m. ET on ESPNU on Thursday, with additional coverage on all of the League’s ESPN+ broadcasts.
- The Horizon League has honored former Cleveland State University head men's basketball coach John McLendon each of the past three seasons. McLendon was hired by Cleveland State in 1966, becoming the first African American head coach at a predominately white institution. He led the Vikings for three seasons.
- Noah Reynolds led the Green Bay men’s basketball team to a 2-0 weekend and the top spot in the Horizon League standings. Across the pair of games, Reynolds averaged 21.0 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.5 rebounds while shooting 60.0 percent from the field. The Peoria, Ill., native showed his scoring prowess on Saturday, going for 34 points, six rebounds, and five assists in a win over Detroit Mercy. Reynolds is the only Horizon League player to score 30+ points five times this season.
- Jalen Jackson led Purdue Fort Wayne to its first win at Northern Kentucky since 1993, totaling 17 points, nine rebounds, three steals and two assists.
- In his home state of Wisconsin, Jack Gohlke was a key contributor for the Golden Grizzlies in a 91-87 double overtime win against Milwaukee. The graduate student tied a game-high with 27 points, including eight three-pointers, and scored his 1,000th career point.
- Cleveland State’s Tristan Enaruna recorded back-to-back games with 28 points for the Vikings this week.
- Kentrell Pullian paced Milwaukee with 23.5 points and added 9.0 rebounds for the Panthers this week.
- Marques Warrick is now up to 2,007 career points, which ties him with Craig Sanders for second-most all-time in school history. Warrick became just the third NKU student-athlete in program history to pass the 2,000-point plateau on Sunday and trails Norse legend Drew McDonald by just 59 points to tie the school record.
