Horizon League Unveils 2024 #HLVB All-League Awards

INDIANAPOLIS (November 21, 2024) – The Horizon League revealed our 2024 #HLVB awards on Thursday. Awards were voted on by the League’s head coaches.
 
Purdue Fort Wayne’s Panna Ratkai was named the Player and Offensive Player of the Year while teammate Riley Rosneck earned Freshman of the Year and teammate Nicole Jones collected the Sportsmanship Award. Wright State’s Lauren Yacobucci is the Setter of the Year while Raider head coach Travers Green was selected Coach of the Year. Milwaukee’s Kara Erdmann is the Defensive Player of the Year.

  • Ratkai led the League with 4.61 kills per set in #HLVB play, hitting .235 with 0.41 aces and 3.0 digs per set.
    • The redshirt sophomore is the second Mastodon to win Player and Offensive Player of the Year honors after Katie Crowe won both awards in the 2020 season.
  • Erdmann paced #HLVB with 6.25 digs per set in League play and is the first Panther since 2009 to earn Defensive Player of the Year.
  • Yacobucci ranked first in the League with 12.44 assists per set in #HLVB play, adding a League-best 0.59 aces per set.
    • Yacobucci’s Setter of the Year honor is the third straight for the Raiders after Katie Meyer and Lainey Stephenson took home the award the last two seasons.
  • Travers Green picked up his third consecutive #HLVB Coach of the Year award after leading the Raiders to their fifth regular season title in the last six seasons.
  • Rosneck averaged 2.94 kills per set in her rookie League season with Purdue Fort Wayne, earning the Mastodons’ second consecutive Freshman of the Year honor.
  • The Sportsmanship Award recognizes student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. Sportsmanship is defined as behavior exhibited during competition by student-athletes based on values, respect and integrity.
  • Nicole Jones is a team captain for the ‘Dons and is a leader on the team, always exhibiting a good attitude and respect for opponents and officials while also battling chronic back pain on the court.
  • Cleveland State and Wright State paced the League with three All-League First Team selections while IU Indianapolis and Milwaukee added two selections each.
  • In the opening match of the 2024 #HLVB championship, No. 3 seed Cleveland State will take on No. 6 seed IU Indianapolis at 3 p.m. ET on Friday, Nov. 22.
  • No. 4 seed Green Bay will battle No. 5 seed Purdue Fort Wayne in Friday’s second quarterfinal, scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.
  • Wright State will play its semifinal match against the lowest-remaining seed after the quarterfinal matches at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday, Nov. 23.
  • Milwaukee will take on the highest-remaining seed from the quarterfinals in the second semifinal match on Saturday.
