Oakland Tabbed as No. 1 Seed in 2024 #HLMSOC Championship Bracket

INDIANAPOLIS (November 5, 2024) – Oakland won the #HLMSOC regular season title and top spot in the Horizon League men’s soccer championship as the regular season concluded. The championship bracket was released on Tuesday, with the Golden Grizzlies will host the semifinal and championship rounds on Nov. 14 and 16 at the Oakland Soccer Field in Rochester Hills, Michigan.

  • For the second-straight season, Oakland has claimed the No. 1 seed in the Horizon League Men’s Soccer Championship.
    • The Golden Grizzlies ended the 2024 regular season with a 6-1-2 League record and 8-6-2 overall record, winning their last four League matchups.
    • Oakland will draw the lowest-remaining seed in its semifinal match on Thursday, Nov. 14.
  • RMU reaches the postseason as the No. 2 seed and also earns a bye into the semifinal round.
    • The Colonials finished the regular season with a 4-3-2 League record.
    • RMU will face the highest-remaining seed from the quarterfinals on Nov. 14 at the Oakland Soccer Field.
  • The 2024 #HLMSOC Championship starts Sunday, Nov. 10 with quarterfinals hosted by No. 3 seed Milwaukee and No. 4 seed Green Bay.
    • Both matches are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT.
    • The Panthers ended regular season play with 14 points in League play after tying Green Bay 1-1 on Tuesday.
    • The Phoenix also finished with 14 League points and an undefeated 6-0-2 overall record at home.            
  • Milwaukee will host No. 6 seed Purdue Fort Wayne, who concluded the regular season with 13 points following a 1-0 victory at IU Indianapolis on Tuesday.
    • The Mastodons won the regular season matchup against the Panthers, 2-0, on Sept. 14 in Fort Wayne.
  • Green Bay will host No. 5 Cleveland State after the Vikings clinched a postseason berth with 13 League points.
    • The Phoenix took the regular season matchup versus Cleveland State with a 3-2 win at home on Sept. 28.
