Horizon League Announces 2024 Indoor #HLTF Alfreeda Goff Athletes of the Year

INDIANAPOLIS (February 23, 2024) – The Horizon League revealed our 2024 Indoor #HLTF Alfreeda Goff Athletes of the Year on Friday. The awards were voted on by the League’s head coaches.
Purdue Fort Wayne’s Harrison Niswander was awarded the Horizon League Alfreeda Goff Indoor Track and Field Men’s Athlete of the Year and Milwaukee’s Natalie Block was selected as the Alfreeda Goff Indoor Track and Field Women’s Athlete of the Year.

- The first Mastodon to earn the award, Niswander was a two-time Indoor #HLTF Men’s Runner of the Week this season, recording first-place finishes in the mile and 3000m events. His time of 4:09.16 in the mile ranks third in the League and he ranks fourth in the League in the 3000m with a time of 8:14.71. Niswander has also set four program records throughout the season in the mile, distance medley relay and 800m events.
- A three-time Athlete of the Year winner, Block ranks first in the Horizon League in both the 60m hurdles (8.22) and the 400m (54.58) and third in the 200m dash (24.83) this season. She is also nationally ranked, earning 35th in the country in the 60m hurdles event. Block has also won Indoor #HLTF Women’s Runner of the Week four times this season.
- For 16 years, Alfreeda Goff was a member of the Horizon League team serving as Senior Associate Commissioner before retiring in 2015. She worked tirelessly to enhance the student-athlete championship experience, including track & field athletes. Prior to entering athletic administration, Alfreeda was the track and field coach at the University of Pittsburgh.
