INDIANAPOLIS (February 6, 2024) – Youngstown State’s Daimere Stephens-Stewart, Tye Hunt and Lauren Sheehan, and Purdue Fort Wayne’s Madison King earned this week’s #HLTF Indoor weekly awards.
MEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK | DAIMERE STEPHENS-STEWART | YOUNGSTOWN STATE | SENIOR | PITTSBURGH, PA.
- Won the 200m dash and was second in the 60m dash at the YSU Mid-Major Invitational
- In the 200m, Stephens-Stewart won with a time 21.72 seconds
- In the 60m, he finished second with a time of 6.79 seconds, which was 0.01 off his season-best of 6.78 seconds
- Times rank third in the League in both the 60m and 200m dashes
WOMEN’S RUNNER OF THE WEEK | MADISON KING | PURDUE FORT WAYNE | SENIOR | NOBLESVILLE, IND.
- Recorded two personal record at Notre Dame’s Meyo Invitational
- Finished first in the 5000 meters with a school record time of 16:29.21; the best time in the Horizon League this season
- Placed fourth in the 3000 meters with a time of 9:32.83; second in the Horizon League this season
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK | TYE HUNT | YOUNGSTOWN STATE | SENIOR | UNIONTOWN, OHIO
- Set a meet-record in the long jump at the YSU Mid-Major Invitational
- Won the event with a distance of 7.71m, winning by a margin of 0.31m
- Hunt’s jump ranks second in the League and 20th in the nation
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK | LAUREN SHEEHAN | YOUNGSTOWN STATE | SENIOR | SHEFFIELD, OHIO
- Won the weight throw and the shot put at the YSU Mid-Major Invitational
- Sheehan had a career-best effort in the weight throw with a toss of 17.62m; ranks fourth in the League in the event
- In the shot put, she won with a throw of 13.29m; ranks second in the League in the event
