(March 20, 2024) – #HLMBB champion Oakland heads to Pittsburgh for an NCAA Tournament matchup against No. 3 seed Kentucky on Thursday while Cleveland State and Purdue Fort Wayne also begin postseason play this week.

  • Greg Kampe is in his 40th season leading the Golden Grizzlies and is now the longest-tenured men’s basketball coach in the country.
  • #HLMBB Player of the Year and Valeo MVP of the Barbasol #HLMBB Championship Trey Townsend posted 38 points and 11 rebounds in the championship game to lead Oakland to its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2011 and first as a member of the Horizon League.
  • Chris Conway also recorded a double-double in the Barbasol #HLMBB championship game with 11 points and 10 rebounds while #HLMBB Sixth Man of the Year Jack Gohlke added 15 points off the bench and Blake Lampman scored 12 points.
  • DQ Cole scored 20 points for Oakland in the semifinals while Gohlke led the offense with 21 points.
  • Jack Gohlke (3.6) and Blake Lampman (3.2) lead the League in three-point field goals made per game while Gohlke shoots 37.0 percent from beyond the arc and Lampman shoots 36.9 percent.
  • Townsend leads the Golden Grizzlies with 16.9 points, 7.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists while shooting 45.7 percent.
  • Purdue Fort Wayne paces the Horizon League in turnover margin (6.12) and steals per game (9.33).
  • Jalen Jackson (16.2) and Rasheed Bello (14.9) lead the Mastodons in scoring and Quinton Morton-Robertson adds 13.3 points per game and Anthony Roberts contributes 13.2 points per contest. Eric Mulder leads the ‘Dons with 7.2 rebounds.
  • Tristan Enaruna leads Cleveland State with 19.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and a field goal percentage of 49.9 percent.
  • Drew Lowder paces the Vikings with 2.9 assists while Tae Williams adds 12.9 points and 6.1 rebounds.
